Since 2020, Bridgerton has been one of Netflix's most popular properties, and an underrated part of the franchise's success is its use of modern songs played in a Regency format, a theme which continues in Bridgerton season 3. Like its predecessors, Bridgerton season 3 plays various popular songs during the season's most pivotal moments. Without words and played mostly through violins, these songs are both recognizable, yet perfectly tuned for the time period. Overall, Bridgerton season 3's soundtrack brings the same excitement that was apparent in season 1, 2, and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story's soundtrack.
Because Bridgerton season 3 follows the love story of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, there are several key moments where the soundtrack is particularly important. Of course, like any season of Bridgerton, the many balls and events that the characters attend have many important songs playing behind them. But in particular to this season, Bridgerton season 3 has other especially exciting moments, like Penelope's transformation, the infamous carriage scene as penned in Julia Quinn's book, "Romancing Mister Bridgerton", and their first steamy scene together.

abcdefu by Gayle: The first glimpse of modern music Bridgerton offers audiences in season 3 is a stripped down string quartet version of "abcdefu" by Gayle. This song perfectly fits the moment, as Penelope enters a ball sporting an entirely new look. Unlike her citrus colored dresses of season 1 and 2, Penelope dons a fashionable emerald green gown with her hair in luxurious waves. The song shows Pen's newfound confidence, and is almost a signal to her peers that she no longer cares what they have to say about her. It is a powerful and exciting scene for Penelope.

Cheap Thrills by Sia - Cover by Vitamin String Quartet: One song apparent in Bridgerton season 3 that is almost immediately recognizable is "Cheap Thrills" by Sia, covered by the Vitamin String Quartet. This song plays as the Bridgerton's pull up to the latest ball. Colin recognizes his feelings for Penelope, just as she moves closer to Lord Debling. At the same time, Violet Bridgerton meets Lady Danbury's brother, Marcus, and the two share an unexpectedly electric moment when she drops her glove in the driveway. The song adds the pefect, upbeat party ambiance.
Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish - Cover by Vitamin String Quarter: At the same ball, not long after "Cheap Thrills" plays, another Vitamin String Quartet cover plays. This time it is "Happier Than Ever," by Billie Eilish. The song plays when Penelope and Lord Debling share a pleasant dance, and Penelope realizes that this romance may actually work out. In the mean time, however, Colin watches on, now knowing that he loves Penelope, and she may be slipping through his fingers. It is a bittersweet moment.

Give Me Everything (Stripped Down) by Archer Marsh: It would not be Bridgerton without a dramatic, violin-filled song playing at the most climactic moment, and this most definitely happens in season 3. After leaving a ball in tears, Penelope rides away in a carriage, only to be caught by Colin, who demands to come in. They bicker, but the fighting quickly turns into a declaration of love, which in turn, becomes a steamy makeout session to "Give Me Everything" (Stripped Down) by Archer Marsh. This moment is exciting for Polin fans, and the music makes it absolutely perfect.
This scene was apparent in Julia Quinn's fourth Bridgerton novel, "Romancing Mister Bridgerton."
Bridgerton Season 3, Episode 5
Tick Tock
pov by Ariana Grande: Bridgerton is all about romance, and therefore, the moments when the main couple are intimate are some of the most important. In Bridgerton season 3, episode 5, Penelope and Colin visit their new home and find themselves having an intimate moment together. During it, a stripped down quartet version of Ariana Grande's "pov" plays. The tune of the song sounds perfect on violin strings, and overall, makes the moment all the more romantic and sweet.
This is definitely one of the highlights of the season 3, part 1 soundtrack.

Confident (Stripped Down) by Archer Marsh: The final moment of modern Bridgerton music in season 3, part 1 is Archer Marsh's "Confident" (Stripped Down). This bold song plays at the Mondrich's ball, right as Cressida Cowper and her mother walk in with their falsified version of Lady Whistledown. This moment is unique because it is a win for Cressida, but a massive loss for Penelope, who does not want her legacy swept under the rug. In this way, it is a mixture of villainous and heroic, depending on the perspective one takes while watching Bridgerton season 3.
