Everything Genshin Impact Natlan Leaks Say About The New Mount System
Summary The Natlan update is rumored to introduce mounts, allowing characters new means of transportation in Genshin Impact.
The lack of precise leak information leads players to speculate and create theories about the rumored gameplay system.
The leak about a mount system sustains leaks shared earlier this year, giving it more credibility.
The new rumored mount system mentioned in multiple Genshin Impact leaks about the region of Natlan is gaining even more traction with more alleged information as the game prepares for the arrival of the next Nation. Currently, the popular RPG by HoYoverse is in the middle of Version 4.6, a patch that brought forth a new area to the south of Fontaine and delved into the story of Remuria, the ancient kingdom that once took place where Fontaine now stands. Of course, this is also the patch that saw the addition of the playable version of Arlecchino in Genshin Impact.
In terms of narrative, the game is a bit slower than a few patches ago, as the main Fontaine storyline has come to a conclusion. Nevertheless, players are still receiving story updates through new character quests like those dedicated to Arlecchino and Cyno, and world quests set in new areas. While Natlan is confirmed to be arriving at some point later this year, no other details about it have yet been provided other than it being the Nation of Pyro reigned by the principle of War. Nevertheless, as Natlan’s release in Genshin Impact approaches, new leaks are starting to emerge.

Characters May Have A New Means Of Transportation
Close
An old rumor that has been reignited with the most recent leaks is that Natlan will introduce a mount system that will allow players to traverse the upcoming Nation on the back of a creature. A new leak obtained by Team Mew, which was shared in a post tagged as “Questionable on Reddit, highlights that one of the new gameplay mechanics introduced with Natlan will be the presence of mounts. This is not the first time mounts in Genshin Impact’s Natlan region have been mentioned, though the fact that it continues to show up in leaks gives it more credibility.
The other part of Team Mew’s leak mentions that the Fatui Harbinger known as Columbina is of a race that was blessed by an Archon from Natlan, much like the Aranara in Sumeru or kitsunes like Yae Miko in Inazuma.
How Natlan Mounts May Work In Genshin Impact
New Gameplay System Could Definitively Change Exploration
The details of how the mounts will work are still extremely scarce. There has been nearly no other information provided by leakers other than the existence of mounts. In another leak provided by HXG, which was shared in a post tagged as “Sus” on Reddit, at least one of the mounts in Natlan will be a dragon. Narratively, this makes sense, since Natlan is confirmed to be a land populated by dragons that live among society. HXG also mentions that players will get a glimpse of the rumored system by riding the dragon Durin in Genshin Impact 4.8’s flagship event.

Updates that occur directly before the release of a Nation, like 2023’s Version 3.8, tend to present some point of connection to the following patch. This mostly occurs in a narrative way – Version 3.8’s Secret Summer Paradise event told the story of Idyia, who revealed herself to be an Oceanid with a connection to Fontaine. The event also featured Hydro Eidolons, which were a preview of Tainted Hydro Phantasms in Fontaine. If the mount system is actually introduced in Version 4.8 before the arrival of Genshin Impact 5.0, players may get a better understanding of how it works.
“Rumors of mounts in Genshin Impact’s Natlan region do not seem too far-fetched.”
Similarly, they would also know what to expect from the exploration in Natlan if HXG’s leak is accurate. The Nation of Pyro is rumored to be a large region, and having mounts could substantially allow players to traverse its breadth without too much time spent on running around and managing Stamina consumption. The prospect of having mounts has long been discussed by players of the community, as demonstrated by a post made on the official HoYoLAB blog page. The addition of this highly rumored mount system in Genshin Impact, however, may come with its own set of problems.

Rumored Mount System In Genshin Impact’s Natlan Should Be Considered With Caution
Speculation Created Based On Past Leaks Has Led To Disappointments
With the lack of more precise information within the leaks, a lot of what is shared is open to interpretation and speculation. Within this realm of thought, it is worth considering that the leaked mount system may be a lot more simplistic and underwhelming than originally thought. This can be sustained by how previous leaks have occurred and even disappointed once they were actually released. A prime example of this was how some of the early Fontaine leaks mentioned that characters from the Nation of Hydro were going to be split into two rival factions.
The two rumored rival factions at the time were actually Ousia and Pneuma, which make up the Arkhe system in Genshin Impact. Each Fontainian character is, in fact, aligned to one of them, but these are not specifically factions and, unlike speculation created from the leaks at the time, they play no role whatsoever in the main story in Fontaine. They do play an important part in certain puzzles in the game and even combat if players are thinking about enhancing their performance against certain enemies, but it is nothing like the leaks initially suggested.
Another great example of how leaks can be inflated into idyllic features is that one of the early Fontaine leaks also mentioned the presence of a new means of transportation within the Nation of Hydro. Surely, the leaks were not wrong, but they referred to the Aquabus system that is spread across the region. Aquabuses are only really used in story missions that require players to board them and are actually a pretty slow means of transportation. Any Genshin Impact player who speculated about a new type of boat system for exploration, for instance, may have ended up disappointed.
While the prospect of fully controllable mounts that allow players to explore at an enhanced speed across this new Nation, rumored to be very large, sounds incredible, it is important to manage expectations and also be ready for the worst-case scenario. There is a chance that the leaked mount system in Natlan only really takes players from point A to point B through a pre-established route.

For now, all leaks about Natlan should be taken with an extra grain of salt. The Version 5.0 update is likely still a few months away and, in that time, a lot that is being leaked right now can still be subject to change. The leaked information itself may even be completely wrong. Nevertheless, HoYoverse tends to bring new and innovative gameplay systems with each new nation and the rumors of mounts in Genshin Impact’s Natlan region do not seem too far-fetched.
