Megalopolis will be getting a global IMAX release, a new update confirms. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Megalopolis has had a rocky road to completion. The film, which stars Adam Driver as an architect attempting to rebuild New York City as a utopia following a devastating cataclysm, has been the subject of troubling behind-the-scenes reports and, more recently, some divisive test screenings.
Megalopolis now gets a promising new update, however, with IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond telling journalists at Cannes (via THR) that the film will get an international IMAX release. A date for the IMAX release won't come until the film secures domestic distribution. Check out Gelfond's comment below:
“The film is going to get an Imax release. One of the things that we pride ourselves on is being filmmaker-friendly. So we’ve committed to Francis to do a global Imax release.”
More to come...
