In fact, took quite a while for Prime to make a decision about the mysterious sci-fi Western, and it was nearly six months between season 1's finale and the announcement that a second season was on the way. This was likely due to Prime Video's release strategy, which released the show in chunks as opposed to weekly.

Outer Range season 2 premiered all seven episodes on May 16, 2024.

Modern TV on streaming services is less dependent on live viewership and more reliant on extended views that stretch out over time. Unsurprisingly, the biggest questions of Outer Range season 2 were answered, but the answers merely posed more confusing questions. The revelation that Autumn (Imogen Poots) is in fact Amy (Olive Abercrombie) in the future was further clarified when the former shoved the latter into the black hole and she awoke with amnesia, referring to herself as Autumn. This caused the portal to close, which will offer some interesting challenges in season 3. With Autumn essentially fulfilling herself, the timeline will only get muddier.

Also speaking of Autumn, the persistent visions of the elder version of Amy leading the time cult were peppered throughout season 2, and season 3 will probably start her down that path.
