Set in a technologically advanced near-future, Upgrade follows Grey Trace, an auto mechanic whose life is upended when he and his wife, Asha, are attacked by technologically enhanced criminals, resulting in Asha's death and Grey's paralysis from the neck down. He is then approached by Eron, a biomechanical developer who implants him with STEM, a cutting-edge biomechanical enhancement chip that not only gives him the ability to walk, but also endows him with enhanced speed, agility, and tactical knowledge to avenge Asha's death. Upgrade's cast skillfully portrays these characters and brings the movie to life.

Character: Grey Trace is a technophobe who is deeply reluctant to use technology for most tasks, and instead prefers to use his hands and do things mechanically. He works as an auto mechanic and loves his wife, Asha. When he loses his wife and gets paralyzed, his life gets upturned, and he's forced to embrace technology in a completely unprecedented manner. Character: Detective Cortez is an able investigator who is a strong moral voice throughout Upgrade.
