Ark: Survival Ascended Teases One Huge Crossover That May Make It Worth Revisiting
Summary A Power Rangers crossover may breathe new life into Ark: Survival Ascended after player disappointment with the current release.
The teaser image hints at a potential crossover with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, sparking speculation on what it could entail for the game.
While details are still scarce, the integration of Power Rangers elements aligns with Ark's existing Tek technology, suggesting a natural fit for the crossover.
Ark: Survival Ascended has not been without its controversy over the last few months. With the expectation that ASA would be everything that ASE was and more, the dedicated Ark playerbase has been anything but impressed, with the game's predecessor, Ark: Survival Evolved, consistently maintaining a higher concurrent player count on Steam. That said, a recent announcement on its official X account may finally breathe some new life into the struggling title.
The Ark: Survival Ascended X account posted an image of Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Zords in silhouette with a date at the bottom of June 17, 2024. Although there are no details associated with the post, this would point to some sort of announcement or release related to ASA and Power Rangers sometime next month.
Although the picture is fairly obvious with what the crossover will be, as the iconic Zords in the background, along with the iconic Power Ranger color scheme representing each Ranger, it's up in the air as to what the crossover will actually entail. It could be something related to a mod or DLC, or it could also involve the television show, as the Ark: The Animated Series recently debuted in March.

Though it would seem like a completely out-of-left-field addition to the survival crafting game, a Power Rangers Ark crossover is actually not that strange at all. After all, Ark embraces technology in the latter stages of the game, with advanced Tek being the center focus of advanced builds. There's also the Tek Creatures, which closely resemble the Zords already in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, particularly in the Tek Rex from ASE, which looks similar to the iconic red T-Rex Zord. That said, the original release for the Tek content in the original game also closely reflected MMPR, so this may just be what it is.

What will specifically be included in this crossover is yet to be officially announced, but it hasn't stopped people online from speculating. While some online are trained to temper their expectations when it comes to announcements from Studio Wildcard — specifically if it has a release or announcement date attached to it — others speculate it could be an official mod or DLC for ASA, or perhaps even skins that can be applied to existing creatures.
There was a Netflix Power Rangers special in 2023 called Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, which received generally lukewarm reviews.
This would make some sense, considering that ASA just released a paid DLC to accompany the release of Scorched Earth called Bob's Tall Tales, which came under some scrutiny due to its $30 price tag. Others think the announcement might be something more innocuous, like the re-introduction of Tek creatures or the addition of things like a Tek Sabertooth Tiger or Mammoth. Though it's reasonable to have doubts that it's anything too impressive, the lightning-bolted Power Rangers branding for the date at the bottom of the banner would indicate that this may be something bigger for Ark: Survival Ascended.
