Genshin Impact Natlan Leaks: Farming Artifacts Is About To Get A Lot Easier
Summary A new Artifact update has leaked for Genshin Impact's Natlan update in Version 5.0.
Six new sets are rumored to be added to a special gameplay mechanic, optimizing the farming process for equipment.
Developer HoYoverse is, however, ignoring better solutions for the excruciating Artifact grinding.
Farming Artifacts in Genshin Impact may get a lot easier with the arrival of Natlan later this year if a new set of leaks are to be believed. Natlan is the upcoming sixth major region of Teyvat and is known to be the Nation of Pyro. The location’s release this year had already been confirmed a while back with the game’s initial roadmap, which established it as the next big area after Fontaine. With the conclusion of the story arc set in the Nation of Hydro, developer HoYoverse once again reiterated that Natlan’s release in Genshin Impact is next.
The game has already provided a few details about what players can expect from Natlan, such as the fact that its reigning principle is War and that the area is currently sunken in multiple conflicts. The game’s story also revealed that Natlan is a land of dragons and that these creatures have become part of the societal structure therein. As the game approaches the Nation of Pyro’s release, more information is arising through leaks. One Genshin Impact Natlan leak about levels suggests character levels will increase, for instance. Now, new leaks hint at Artifacts becoming easier to farm.

Six Sets Are Rumored To Be Added In Version 5.0
Close
Apparently, there will be no change to the method players use to normally get their Artifacts, but, according to new information obtained by GuraLeak, which was shared in a post tagged as “Sus” on Reddit, new Artifact strongboxes are arriving with Version 5.0, the update that should also introduce Natlan to the game. The Artifact sets mentioned in the leak are Deepwood Memories, Gilded Dreams, Desert Pavilion Chronicle, Flower of Paradise Lost, Vourukasha's Glow, and something called “Narcissen.” This may refer to a new Artifact set coming in a future update to Genshin Impact, but likely not.
Even though nothing under the “Narcissen” moniker is currently available in the game, the leak could refer to the Marechaussee Hunter Artifact set, which does mention the Narzissenkreuz Institute from Fontaine.

The rumored addition of six new sets of Artifact strongboxes with Version 5.0 comes as good news since this is one of the best ways of optimizing the farming process when gathering equipment for characters. When running Domains and mustering several Artifacts in search of one with the perfect stats for a certain build, several other pieces with suboptimal pieces come along and tend to occupy inventory space. These items can then be used to level up an Artifact deemed worthy by the player in Genshin Impact, but they can play a more important role when it comes to farming.

After actually farming Artifacts through Domains, using strongboxes is the second best way of trying to optimize one’s gains when looking for specific pieces. The leaks about the six new Artifact strongboxes are good because the new sets leaked by Gura are present in several character builds. The Flower of Paradise Lost set is great for a variety of heroes who focus on Dendro-related Elemental Reactions like Burgeon or Hyperbloom. The Desert Pavilion Chronicle set, on the other hand, is the best-in-slot for Wanderer, who is finally having a rerun in the Genshin Impact 4.6 character banners.
“Artifact grinding has been a recurrent problem in the game since its launch and developer HoYoverse has consistently been ignoring solutions.”
Even if the usage of Artifact strongboxes does not ensure a piece with good stats will be presented to the player, it does increase the odds of that happening. As such, players who are consistently farming for any of the six aforementioned Artifact sets could have better luck once the Version 5.0 update and Natlan arrive. Of course, that depends on whether or not the leak itself is true. While it is beneficial to players, it is only a partial solution to a much larger and longstanding problem within the structure of Genshin Impact.

Leaked Strongboxes In Genshin Impact 5.0 Do Not Address Biggest Problem With Artifacts
Artifact Grinding Continues To Be Excruciating & HoYoverse Ignores Its Own Solutions
Artifact grinding has been a recurrent problem in the game since its launch and developer HoYoverse has consistently been ignoring solutions that it created for other gacha games under its own umbrella. The big problem with obtaining Artifacts is that there is never a guarantee that the pieces that will drop from a Domain run will have usable stats. In fact, there is not even a guarantee that pieces from the Artifact set a player is looking for will actually drop, as these types of Domains in Genshin Impact usually hold two types of possible Artifact sets.
With the uncertainty of a drop for pieces of an Artifact set a player is looking for, followed by the uncertainty of the randomized stats a piece can have, it becomes excruciating to farm Artifacts. This is aggravated by the fact that players are often required to run the same Domain challenge multiple times to see no positive results come out of their effort. What is really bothersome is that there are a few solutions that would make sense for the universe of Genshin Impact and its general gameplay mechanics.
While an auto-farming function like that available in HoYoverse’s Honkai: Star Rail would never work since Genshin is not a turn-based RPG but an action RPG, there is one function in the space-set adventure that could be translated into the one that follows the Traveler. In Honkai: Star Rail, players have the ability to craft the equivalent of Artifacts by using a special material obtained by dismantling other Artifact-adjacent items.
In a sense, there is a similarity between this mechanic and Genshin Impact’s Artifact strongboxes.
The paramount difference between both is that Honkai: Star Rail’s system allows players to select which piece of the Artifact set they wish to craft, narrowing down the farming process and optimizing player gains. This is exacerbated even further when considering that the game has a special resource called Self-Modeling Resin, which allows players to choose the base stat for the piece they are crafting. There is no assurance the item’s sub-stats will not be a mess, but it gives players a better shot at farming the equivalent of Artifacts in Genshin Impact’s sister game.
This more dedicated system could easily be implemented into HoYoverse’s action RPG, either through a mechanical update to the already existing Artifact strongboxes or by discarding strongboxes altogether and creating something new. Even if not a perfect solution due to the randomness of sub-stats, this would already be a massive improvement to the player experience in the game and, arguably, the best quality-of-life update possible.

For now, however, new Artifact strongboxes do help players with their Artifact-farming processes, even if in a minimal manner. Of course, the information shared by GuraLeak should be taken with a grain of salt, as a lot is still subject to change and the details they provided could simply be wrong. There may be a lot of changes coming with the release of Natlan later this Summer as big updates like Genshin Impact 5.0 also tend to fix problems beyond simply adding content.
