Coming off of the heels of the franchise's 25th anniversary story arc, "Shattered Grid," Mighty Morphin Power Rangers delivered readers a sequel arc of sorts, a companion piece entitled "Beyond the Grid." A dream team of Rangers' past met Ari, the Purple Solar Ranger, to assist her in fighting off a corrupted Morphin Master, Praetor. The mission brought together various fan-favorite characters to fill out the Solar Rangers unit to defeat Praetor. Once the mission was over, the assembled classic Rangers went their separate ways, while Ari searched the galaxy for new members for the team.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #120 preview opens in the midst of an attack from Dark Specter's army. To keep the children feeling safe and entertained during a stressful time, the Orange Solar Ranger – and Ari's girlfriend – tells the story of the Solar Rangers.
