In October 2023, it was reported that Disney+ was in development on a live-action revival of the Gargoyles cartoon. The project is produced by Atomic Monster, the company founded by James Wan, known for directing movies such as The Conjuring, Furious 7, and Aquaman. Gary Dauberman, who frequently collaborates with Wan and is known for writing the Annabelle trilogy and It duology, is taking charge of the live-action show as the executive producer, writer, and showrunner. With the two horror veterans on board, it appears Disney+ is aiming to recapture the dark, gothic atmosphere of the original animated series.

In recent months, there haven't been any updates on the status of the live-action reboot, though it's assumed that it is still in early development at Disney+. However, just because the show is in development doesn't mean it has been greenlit. For instance, a Gargoyles movie was once in development in 2011, though the project was put on hold due to Disney's box office disappointments around that time. In turn, it might be some time before there are any more updates on the live-action Gargoyles show.
