EPs Steve Holland and Steve Molaro reveal when Georgie and Mandy's spinoff will pick up after the events of the Young Sheldon finale. Sheldon's time in Texas has already come to a close, as he moves to Pasadena, California to start his post-graduate studies at Caltech at the end of the prequel. That being said, The Big Bang Theory franchise will continue to live after the Young Sheldon finale thanks to Georgie and Mandy's sequel series, which is officially titled Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage.

In a post-Young Sheldon finale interview with Glamour, Molaro and Holland reveal when the next The Big Bang Theory spinoff lands in the established timeline. According to him, there won't be a significant gap between George's death and the beginning of Georgie and Mandy's arc as parents. Read their full quote below:

Holland: No. If the finale of Young Sheldon took place a month after George's funeral, then this is a month or two after that. Molaro: The plan is to use the same babies. We love those babies. They're cute and really well-behaved. And their parents are great.

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will take over Young Sheldon's Thursday, 8pm ET timeslot on CBS during the 2024-2025 TV season.

Thanks to Sheldon's penchant for sharing childhood anecdotes, Georgie's existence was established in The Big Bang Theory, emphasized by Jerry O'Connell's debut as the character. Because he appeared late in the sitcom's run, however, not much was revealed about him. Neither Mandy nor Baby Cece was mentioned, let alone appeared, which allows Molaro and Holland more creative freedom to craft their story. Young Sheldon season 7 has already laid the foundation of the new series, starting with the couple's moving in with Audrey and Jim McAllister since Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso will be series regulars in the offshoot.

After George's funeral, the Young Sheldon finale also brings up Veronica for the first time in years, making it curious if she will come back in the follow-up series.

Since much of the Young Sheldon finale revolves around the aftermath of George's unexpected death, the series-capper doesn't have a lot of time to set up the sequel series. However, seeing Georgie transform into a responsible adult who is inspired by his dad likely foreshadows the kind of father that he would be to Baby Cece in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. After George's funeral, the Young Sheldon finale also brings up Veronica for the first time in years, making it curious if she will come back in the follow-up series.

Unfortunately, despite their upcoming Young Sheldon sequel show, The Big Bang Theory already doomed Georgie and Mandy's marriage to fail. As revealed in the flagship show, the pair will eventually split up. How Molaro and Holland plan to address that is currently uncertain at this point, considering that their focus was on wrapping up Sheldon's childhood. In any case, they have time to figure things out, considering that filming won't start until the middle of the summer.
