A Storm renaissance is brewing, as the beloved X-Men hero enters her newest era with an electric shock that blasts past her status as an Omega-level mutant. Following the X-Men's Fall of X, and Storm's reunion with the Avengers, the Storm ongoing series will show off Ororo Munroe in a way she has never been seen before, finally bringing her back to her godly roots.
As Krakoa falls, and the fate of Arakko is shrouded in mystery, the former Regent of the mutant planet Storm will return to Earth to fight for innocent lives, reclaim her heroic identity, and become the goddess she has always been inside.
Storm will be written by Murewa Ayodele (I Am Iron Man, Akogun: Brutalizer of Gods) with art from Lucas Werneck (Immortal X-Men, Sins of Sinister) and stunning covers by Mateus Manhanini. Following Storm throughout Earth and the cosmos, Storm will see Ororo operate out of an exciting new base and don an epic new costume, to honor the newest stage in her heroic development.
Ororo Munroe has lived many lives. She’s been a thief, a goddess, an X-Man, a queen, and now… an Avenger! She is the most prominent, most respected and most powerful mutant on the world stage—and in that role, she intends to be a force for positive change. First up: a major meltdown at a nuclear facility in Oklahoma City draws Storm from her Sanctuary in Atlanta—and into a moral conflict that will test her iron resolve! As one of the year’s biggest launches, it’ll be packed with guest stars including Storm’s fellow Avengers, X-Factor’s Frenzy, and more!
Storm's Newest Era Will See The Iconic Hero Fight Like Never Before
Storm is perhaps the most powerful and most respected mutant known to the public - both in real life and the Marvel Universe - and she has played a major role in the X-Men's Krakoan Era. From helping to found the Quiet Council, to becoming the Regent of Arakko and Voice of Sol, Storm has spent the past five years fighting for mutantkind. Now, after the fall of Krakoa, Earth needs Storm more than ever, and she will need to endure the Labors of Storm if she is to become the hero the world needs.
Excitingly, Storm's newest era will be based out of Atlanta, Georgia, in a base called "Sanctuary," reminiscent of Iceman's Antarctic Fortress from Astonishing Iceman. Writer Murewa Ayodele promises that Storm will see Ororo re-center her godly past, even surpassing her godlike identity, as Storm "fights against menacing dark spells from Africa" and battles "Dominance over a living rage planet." Storm's labors will have her encounter the cosmic entity known as Eternity, who has plans to create an "Eternal Storm," a development that could tragically kill the titular goddess.
Lucas Werneck Designed A Gorgeous New Look For Storm
Lucas Werneck is the king of Marvel character designs, having previously crafted absolutely breathtaking new looks for Storm and the Scarlet Witch, as well as designing dozens of Hellfire Gala looks. Werneck's newest design for Ororo is truly gorgeous, featuring a costume that appears like an updated homage to Jim Lee's classic look for Storm in 1991's X-Men #1, as well as the earpiece that she donned in X-Men: Red. Thankfully, potentially after getting feedback from passionate fans, Ororo's hair is big, natural, and beautiful, not in her 80s punk-style Mohawk.
Storm is a force of nature, and nature cannot be denied. From her new base in Atlanta, Ororo Munroe will partner with her X-Men family, her Avengers peers, and even cosmic entities as she battles for the lives of innocents and reclaims her destiny as a goddess.
Storm #1 from Marvel Comics debuts on October 2nd, 2024.
