Chandrika is the vice-president of the Humaniversity, an international therapy institute in Egmond aan Zee, the Netherland. It was founded by Veeresh, who originally worked with addiction. It then turned into a very successful centre for personal growth. Their approach is holistic and people with all kinds of issues can participate in their workshops and become part of their commune.

[Osho] has left us [as his legacy] all these meditation techniques, the active meditation techniques, which is a very nice concept because, as he says, the modern human being needs to have something where they can first move, go into an activity and then only go into silence. Not like in the tradition from the East, where you just sit in silence. Because we cannot! We are too much stressed in our normal daily life. I think it goes much further: we have all the recordings from his lectures. They are eternal. It’s really incredible: you could listen to the same lecture for a year and you will always hear something new again – because it depends on your openness. Apart from that he has worked with so many people, who he has touched in their hearts, in their being. And all these people keep on living and spreading [the message] like me, like other people. We call them sometimes ‘the touched people’. The people who have been touched by his love.

Chandrika grew up in Switzerland in a happy family but when she was 12 years old her mother had a nervous breakdown, which brought up a lot of questions for her. How can I help somebody? What is life all about? A psychoanalyst helped her for 3 years which set her on the path to study psychology. When at a certain point she realised ‘this is not it’, she discovered yoga and became interested in Eastern philosophy. When a friend told her about Osho combining Eastern and Western approaches, she went to Poona to see Osho.

Meeting Osho, seeing him sitting so quietly in the middle of people dancing wildly around him, and seeing the love, compassion and depth in his eyes, there was no doubt left. She took sannyas, became a disciple, and wanted to learn from him.

Osho told her to go and support Veeresh and also to do the Dynamic and Kundalini Meditations. After some initial resistance she did the meditations for years, which taught her to be present, to become a witness, and to enjoy and celebrate life!

Now she is helping people at the Humaniversity with active and social meditations, as well as in intensive workshops and trainings.

The Humaniversity opens its doors every Monday from 5pm (17:00 h) where you can participate in a Social or an Osho Active Meditation as a taster.
