Star Wars: The Acolyte has a brand-new trailer that reveals the first ever live-action lightsaber whip. The Disney+ show is set during the universe's High Republic era, about a century before the events of the 1999 prequel The Phantom Menace. The Acolyte story revolves around a dark power rising in that age of light as a Jedi master attempts to track down an ex-Padawan who has turned to the dark side. The show's cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

In a quick wide shot seen from above, a character wields a lightsaber that extends outward into a more pliable state where it can function like a whip.
