Pokémon TCG: New Night Wanderer Cards Are A Throwback To A Fan-Favorite Region
Summary The Night Wanderer expansion features the Decidueye line, from Alola, showing Pokémon TCG's appreciation for older regions.
The Decidueye cards reveal a fan-favorite starter but highlight some absences in recent TCG releases.
There is still some uncertainty on whether Decidueye cards will appear in the Shrouded Fable set later this year.
A new set of Pokémon TCG cards for the Night Wanderer expansion has been revealed, and they are a welcome throwback to one of the franchise’s best regions. Night Wanderer is an upcoming Japan-exclusive set that will focus on several creatures from the Land of Kitakami, as it portrays elements of Scarlet and Violet’s Mochi Mayhem epilogue. Nevertheless, it also contains several Pokémon, trainers, and locations from other locations. It has recently been announced that the Night Wanderer set will be partially converted for the release of Pokémon TCG: Shrouded Fable in the Western market in August.
Because the set has yet to arrive, a few of the cards within it have started being teased and a new showcase of three cards reminisce on a fan-favorite region. As reported by Pokebeach, the Night Wanderer expansion will feature the Decidueye evolutionary line. The final form of Rowlet, which evolves from Dartrix, is one of the most beloved Grass-type starters and it hails from one of the most adored regions, Alola. While these Night Wanderer cards do not feature any special form of rarity, it shows that Pokémon TCG still cares about its older regions.

Decidueye Cards From Pokémon TCG: Night Wanderer Prove It Is A Fan-Favorite
Cards May Appear In The Shrouded Fable Set Later This Year

The announcement of the Decidueye evolutionary line cards proves that this is, in fact, a fan-favorite starter. As stated by the user ronflex in the comment section of Pokebeach’s post, the evolutionary line starting with Rowlet has gained multiple copies and prints in expansions throughout the past few years. In direct contrast, as mentioned by the user, the complete Chesnaught evolutionary line has not been printed since the XY: BREAKthrough set, released back in 2015.
“It is uncertain if they will make it into the Shrouded Fable set.”
Some of the cards in that evolutionary line have appeared in Pokémon TCG promos, but the complete line has not. Chesnaught appeared more recently with Sword & Shield’s Silver Tempest expansion, but it was featured as a Basic Pokémon without its previous forms since it was printed as Chesnaught V. While the Trading Card Game does pay homage to a few of its older contents, it does seem to be highly selective, as an entire starter family has been absent for nearly a full decade.

Although there are now over 1,000 Pokémon to represent, there are nearly six Pokémon TCG expansions released every year, which makes some absences quite questionable. The Night Wanderer set has not had all of its cards revealed yet and there may be extra cards incorporated into the future Shrouded Fable expansion later this year. As such, there is some time for the game to revisit some creatures that have been put aside.

The reveal of the cards featuring the Decidueye evolutionary line is good news, however, as they are adored by players and collectors alike. It is uncertain if they will make it into the Shrouded Fable set but, if they do, players may be able to obtain these three new cards once the Pokémon TCG expansion arrives on August 2.
