Summary Shazam Family tackles secrecy with a witty plan as CPS inspections loom in Shazam #11

Mary Marvel assigns specific duties to each sibling to keep superhero life hidden.

The system needs refining, but Shazam Family's new plan may be their best development in years.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Shazam #11!When it comes to keeping one's life as a superhero secret, the Shazam Family has a formula that will perfectly safeguard anyone's most personal details. One of the biggest days in the Shazam Family's lives has come and Mary Marvel has come up with the best 'how-to' guide for her family to ensure it's a success.

In Shazam #11 by Josie Campbell and Emanuela Lupacchino, the Shazam Family is on edge. Child Protective Services is coming by for a house check and interviews to decide if Victor and Rosa Vasquez will be allowed to adopt their foster children. To make sure the house check goes well, Mary Marvel assigns duties to her siblings.

Pedro is tasked with keeping on guard for weird magic things while Freddy isn't to say anything too suspicious (aka "Don't put foot in mouth" duty). Darla and Eugene are to charm the CPS interviewer while Billy is to keep his life as Shazam completely under wraps.

Mary Marvel Steps in to Keep the Shazam Family's Double Life Hidden

Billy Batson has been living with his foster family since the New 52 revitalized his family. The Vasquez's took him and before long, Shazam spread his magic powers to his siblings, creating an entire team of magic-wielding heroes. Unfortunately, amid a few upheavals, most of the siblings lost their powers. Now Billy and Mary are the only powerful ones in the family. But the siblings still work together to support Shazam and Mary Marvel during their magic escapades, especially now that the Vasquez's new home is connected to the domains of gods that Shazam draws his power from.

While Rosa and Victor know that their kids are heroes, the Shazam Family still have to keep much of their hero lives hidden (especially if they want to be seen as an average family). Ever the big sister figure, Mary has figured out that the best way of keeping the family's double life hidden is by assigning every member a specific duty. It lessens the burden on everyone and these duties either play to someone's strengths or keep them from making a huge mistake. While the system could use some refining, it may be just what the Shazam Family needs.

The Shazam Family Almost Has the Perfect System to Protect Their Secrets

It's humorous to see Billy, Mary, and their siblings working together in such a comedic fashion to hide the role magic has in their lives. But it's an important thing to have. Billy is the Captain, one of the world's greatest heroes and isn't just going to give that up. It's best that the Shazam Family have a system in place to make sure they don't accidentally let their biggest secrets out into the open. Sure it's not perfect, but with a bit of work, the Shazam Family's new system could be their best development in years.

Shazam #11 is available now from DC Comics.
