Gray Zone Warfare: It’s In The Water Task Walkthrough
Many tasks can be completed for your faction in Gray Zone Warfare, including "It's In The Water," a two-part mission where you have to collect samples from bodies of water. The open world map of this MMO first-person shooter can be confusing to navigate at times during any task. As a result, it can be difficult to know exactly which areas you need to visit to gather the samples needed.
This task is given by the NPC Handshake once you've already finished "The Shadow Over Ban Pa," another mission related to the Crimson Shield International faction in Gray Zone Warfare. Completing faction missions like these helps deepen your relationship with Handshake over time. The more quests you finish for your faction, the better rewards you can unlock, from additional currency to better gear.
Other contacts from other factions may give you this task after you reach Level 10. It is not exclusive to Handshake or the Crimson Shield International faction, but that group tends to offer it more frequently.

How To Complete "It's In The Water" (Part 1)
Collect Three Samples From Around Your Map
The "It's In The Water" task has two parts, with the first asking you to collect samples from three different places around Ban Pa, a village to the east of your map. This small settlement may have been a spot where other missions of yours took place at earlier stages of the game. Those familiar with the area will have an advantage in looking for the spots where the mission wants them to go.
Unfortunately, the three locations where you need to retrieve samples are described vaguely in the task instructions, making the next step a bit confusing. You have to get avian tissue samples, water samples from a well, and ground samples from a mound of soil to complete this task's main objective. Similar to the "Rat's Nest" task in Gray Zone Warfare, your map won't be marked with any place to make this mission easier.
Handshake, or the NPC who provided the quest, hands you three Sample Collection Kit items when you accept the job. You can buy more for $100 each if you somehow lose these quest items or have to get back to your base camp early. Once you have your equipment ready, head to these locations around Ban Pa to find the samples you need:
Sample Coordinates How To Find Avian Tissue (205, 136) Go southeast through Ban Pa towards the docks until you reach a road connecting to the village. Travel south along the road until you find a birdhouse behind a home near the end of the path, where blood from the location can be collected as the sample you need. Well Water (205, 137) Travel into the center of Ban Pa until you reach a well in the middle of the village where water samples can be collected from. Many enemies in this area will attack as you reach this area, so be careful as you approach the well. Mound of Soil (206, 137) Starting from the India 1 LZ drop off point, fight through enemies to reach the small hill close to the town's dock. A large mound of dirt in the area can be interacted with to give you the sample needed for the task.
When you have every sample you need, return to the nearest LZ to take you and anyone else in your squad back to the base camp. One of the earliest tricks learned in Gray Zone Warfare is how getting killed by enemies causes you to drop any item you had at the time. This could cause you to lose your samples, forcing you to either retrieve them from your dead body or visit the above locations a second time.
Be extremely careful while trying to recover samples if you die trying to extract them since being killed a second time causes all the items on your previous body to despawn, as only one of your bodies can remain on the map.
How To Complete "It's In The Water" (Part 2)
Investigate A Chemical Plant
Returning to Handshake or whichever NPC gave you the first part of this task will cause you to reach the second part of the mission. This time, you will be asked to return to Ban Pa and find anything related to chemical production within the area. As you might be able to see in the above video by YouTube creator Omni, this investigation is far easier to complete than the sample collection objectives from before.
Go back out on another expedition to Lamang Island and farm enemies around Ban Pa to eventually find a dropped item called the BP Elder. Visit the Elder's House in the village to reveal the existence of a Chemical Production Lab somewhere in the region that this item unlocks. Documents in the Elder's House should reveal the location of the Lab, so just visit the site when you grab the key from a defeated enemy.
When you enter the Lab, you may have to defeat some enemy groups around the area tactically to clear the location of any dangers. Don't forget to heal injuries in Gray Zone Warfare quickly to stay safe against armed groups or enemy players roaming around the map. Interacting with the main computer in the center of the Lab will help you get all the info you need to return to your home base and complete the task's second part.
Rewards For Completing The "It's In The Water" Task
Gain Money, Experience, And Other Rare Items
Going back to the base camp allows you to once again talk to whoever gave you the "It's In The Water" task and receive several rewards. For completing the first part of the mission, you earn $6,300, 1,000 Experience, and 3 Small Blood Bags. Finishing the second part of the task successfully will let you gain $7,800, 3 Methylphenidate, 2 Meloxicam, and 1,000 Experience.
Managing to accomplish every objective from both segments of the quest also awards you 150 Reputation with the NPC who gave you the mission, whether it's Handshake or someone else. This not only helps you level up those characters but also unlocks new missions to pursue. The effort it takes to complete "It's In The Water" in Gray Zone Warfare may seem tedious, but the results can be incredibly rewarding.
