What Happened In Kaiju No. 8 Episode #6
Close
Kaiju No. 8 episode #6, “Sagamihara Neutralization Operation at Daybreak”, continued where episode #5 left off with Kafka’s squad being sent on their first mission to kill a legion of mushroom-like Kaiju. Kafka was still too weak to fight without his Kaiju powers, but once again, Kafka used his knowledge of Kaiju biology to figure out the weaknesses of the Kaiju. Thanks to that, everyone had an easier time dealing with the Kaiju, and Kafka once again made up for his lack of combat abilities.
As the fighting waged on, Mina killed the Honju, the lead Kaiju, with a massive gun and once again showed Kafka how far he had to go if he wanted to stand by her side. Everyone kept fighting the remaining Kaiju, and while most of the new recruits started getting exhausted, the Kaiju’s numbers were slowly being whittled down to nothing. However, things took a turn for the worse at the end of the episode as Reno and Furuhashi ran into the humanoid Kaiju as he looked into how the other Kaiju were defeated.
Kaiju No. 8 Episode #6 Sets Up Its Next Big Hero
One notable moment from Kaiju No. 8 episode #6 stems from it establishing Reno as the next big hero in the story. In Hoshina’s analysis of the new recruits, he noted that Reno and Kikoru were the only ones who had the potential to become captain-class fighters, so Reno is bound to be more than just Kafka’s sidekick and confidant as the story goes on. Reno’s creativity in dealing with the Kaiju gives a lot of credence to that idea, and it will be plenty exciting to see how that develops in future episodes of the Kaiju No. 8 anime.
Be sure to watch Kaiju No. 8 episode #7 when it releases on Saturday, May 25.
