Pedro Pascal Revealed Din Djarin's Character Arc Five Years Ago - But Where Does It Go Next?
Summary Din Djarin's character arc involves seeking his destiny, as outlined by Pedro Pascal years ago in an interview.
The Mandalorian's success is tied to Din Djarin, voiced by Pascal, who has become a compelling character in Star Wars.
The upcoming film "The Mandalorian & Grogu" set for 2026 may help Din find his place and fulfill his destiny in the galaxy.
The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal outlined Din Djarin's character arc years ago, begging the question of where it goes next. The Mandalorian first aired in 2019 as the kickstarter of Lucasfilm's recent TV success story. The show's popularity is arguably the biggest catalyst in the many upcoming Star Wars TV shows being produced. Further adding to The Mandalorian's success was the revelation that the sub-franchise would usher in the franchise's return to theaters with the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu as a Star Wars movie.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to release in theaters in May 2026.
Much of the success of The Mandalorian can be attributed to Din Djarin, the show's titular character. Voiced admirably by Pedro Pascal, the bounty hunter has become one of the more compelling characters in Star Wars' New Republic timeline. Interestingly, though, Pascal revealed Din Djarin's character arc five years ago as The Mandalorian first aired, leading many to question where such an arc will go in upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows.

In 2020, the Star Wars Insider magazine published its 195th issue. In this issue, an interview with Pedro Pascal was found, titled "Pedro Pascal: The Mysterious Gunslinger." This interview encompassed several elements of The Mandalorian season 1 given its release only a few months after the finale of the show's first outing. In this interview, Pascal highlighted what the vision was concerning Din Djarin's overall character arc:
“Sometimes we’re very much a mystery to ourselves. Our own identity is in the discovery of what you’re capable of, or what your destiny is, or whether you will live for yourself or for others. It’s very much a part of Jon Favreau’s vision of the story, which is built upon the galaxy George Lucas introduced to all of us.”
These comments from Pascal explain that Din Djarin's overall arc in the Star Wars franchise is to find his destiny, whatever that may be. Interestingly, Din's journey throughout The Mandalorian seasons 1, 2, and 3 thus far has emulated this. Din has questioned his Mandalorian creed, been redeemed, fought against Imperial remnants, and adopted Grogu, each of these aspects allowing him to both live for himself and live for others. That said, Din has yet to find his place in the greater Star Wars galaxy.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Could Help Din Find His Place
Din's Theatrical Journey With Grogu Could Make His Destiny Clear
Much of Din's journey in Star Wars thus far has applied to the more nuanced aspects of Pascal's comments. Finding out what Din is capable of and living for Grogu rather than just himself have been major components of The Mandalorian since it began. However, regarding Din's overall destiny of where he fits into the galaxy at large, this is yet to be explored and could be featured in The Mandalorian & Grogu.
As of The Mandalorian season 3's ending, Din has settled down with Grogu while offering his unofficial aid to the New Republic in taking down Imperial remnants. This storyline is expected to be the basis of The Mandalorian & Grogu, leading into the endgame of the New Republic era. With this in mind, Din partaking in a galactic-scale conflict against Imperial remnants will undoubtedly show him his place. Through this conflict, Din could find his destiny after searching since The Mandalorian season 1, bringing the initial character arc from Pascal full circle.
