The Sandman Season 2 Teaser Introduces 3 New Endless Characters
Destiny, Delirium, And The Prodigal Are Confirmed To Be Part Of The Sandman Season 2
The Sandman season 2 will introduce the other three prominent members of the Endless to the Netflix adaptation, meaning Destiny, Delirium, and the Prodigal have been confirmed for in the upcoming season. In the world of The Sandman, the Endless are universal concepts that serve as constants in the universe. The children of Time and the Night, the Endless are effectively deities on an entirely different level than other gods. Although they can be targeted, contained or even killed, doing so forces another to become a reincarnation of that Endless so that the entities continue in the universe.
The seven siblings in the original comic were Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium. Dream is the most prominent of the Endless in The Sandman, and three of his siblings (Death, Desire, and Despair) appeared in the first season of The Sandman. The teaser for season 2 focuses solely on all seven of the Endless, showcasing each of them in a gray misty space. Each of them has an important role to play in the overarching story of The Sandman, especially if the series continues to follow the overall arc of the original story.
Who Destiny, Delirium, & The Prodigal Are In The Sandman Comics
Destiny
Destiny is the oldest of the Endless. The embodiment of fate, Destiny rarely intervenes in the lives of others. This extends to the other Endless. He is always seen chained to his Book of Destiny, which contains the full story of the universe. Born before the universe began, Destiny will be the last entity that Death takes before the universe ends. Even compared to the other members of the Endless, Destiny is shown to be distant and largely emotionless. Despite his purposeful disconnect, Destiny shows flashes of feeling at various times. Adrian Lester will play Destiny in The Sandman.
The Prodigal
The Prodigal is the fourth oldest of the Endless, born after Destiny, Death, and Dream. Originally, the Prodigal was known as Destruction. Serving as the embodiment of destruction, the Prodigal was a boisterous members of the Endless long before the events of the series. However, in the original comics, visions of humanity's true destructive potential eventually led a shaken Destruction to abandon his post. Taking the title of the Prodigal, the immortal became a wanderer. Largely estranged from his family, the Prodigal's true identity was initially a big secret. Barry Sloane will play the Prodigal in The Sandman.
Delirium
The youngest of the Endless, Delirium was once known as Delight. However, unseen events before the events of The Sandman transformed her into the more chaotic Delirium. A reality-warper whose knowledge is often hinted to be more expansive than that of her siblings, Delirium is nevertheless left hindered by her abilities. Her interactions with humans in particular can come off as unintentionally cruel and even monstrous. However, she's also got a keen sense of perspective, and delivers some of the comic's harshest line deliveries when she restrains herself. In The Sandman, Delirium will be played by Esmé Creed-Miles.

What The New Endless' Introduction Could Mean For The Sandman Season 2
It Looks Like The Sandman Is Heading Towards "Season of Mists"
The introduction of the remaining three Endless suggests that The Sandman season 2 will likely be adapting storylines like “Season of Mists." That plot opened with a meeting of the Endless, highlighting their connections and rapports. This storyline is one of the most important beats in The Sandman. The tensions between Dream and his siblings established in "Season of Mists" set the stage for Morpheus to try and save his former lover Nada from hell and the wide-spanning fallout of his next confrontation with Lucifer.
"Season of Mists" furthers the overarching themes of The Sandman related to responsibility, contrasting the impact of Dream's actions against the Prodigal's decision to turn his back on his realm and his duties. The introduction of Dream's other siblings is also a crucial step towards the latter stories of The Sandman, which steadily revealed more about the Endless and their eventual fates. This plays an important part in Dream's journey, as the lessons he learns from and in contrast to his siblings are a major element of his character growth across the series.

Season 2 of The Sandman will also be bringing back the four Endless who were introduced in the first season. Most prominent in the teaser is Dream, the central character of the series. Dream is seen in the teaser sitting in his throne, representative of the renewed drive he had at the end of season 1. It could also potentially allude to his brief role as the arbiter of Hell upon Lucifer's decision to abdicate the throne, an important moment from the original comics that is likely to make the leap to TV.
Death is seen in a new variant of her appearance in the first season, reaching out a welcoming hand as Death did in The Sandman and Dead-Boy Detectives. The twins Desire and Despair can also be seen together in the teaser, hinting that the new episodes will retain their close bond even as tensions set up in season 1 boil over between Desire and Dream in future stories.
