Honkai: Star Rail - Boothill Character Ascension (& Materials)

Honkai: Star Rail - Boothill Character Ascension (& Materials)

In order to unlock his full potential as a Physical DPS, you will need to farm the correct materials for Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail, allowing you to fully Ascend the character and level up his Traces. Boothill, like Robin, is a new 5-star Physical character in the game introduced with Version 2.2. Contrary to her, however, Boothill follows the Path of the Hunt and operates as a single-target DPS, as opposed to Robin’s specialty as a support character following the Path of the Harmony. Robin and Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 arrive alongside a load of new content.

This includes the end of the main Penacony questline, as well as a new weekly boss encounter, a new Trailblazer form, and much more. Boothill is a Galaxy Ranger who lives up to his reputation as a cowboy and initiates duels against single opponents in battle. During duels, they deal increased damage to one another, while receiving less damage from other sources. While operating as a DPS, he also has debuffing capabilities; Boothill can also inflict Physical weakness on opponents and even delay their turns. Before using all this, however, you should farm and Ascend Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail.

Farming the right materials for Boothill’s Ascension is not too difficult, as the vast majority of them have been available since the release of Penacony back in Version 2.0. Nevertheless, if you have already burned through the resources by ascending Aventurine in Honkai: Star Rail, for instance, they may need to gather more, especially since a load of it is actually used for Boothill’s Traces as well. The other material was added with Version 2.2, so you probably did not have as much time to pre-farm it as the first set of items.

The table below lists all of the materials necessary for Boothill’s complete Ascension, as well as division per Ascension level and rewards you can get by completing the process:

Boothill Ascension Materials & Rewards In Honkai: Star Rail Level Ascension Materials Rewards Level 20 Ascension 5x Tatters of Thought

15x Fragments of Impression

15x Shards of Desire

65x IPC Work Permit

308,000x Credits 3x Star Rail Pass

The first set of materials you need to farm for Boothill is an item family composed of Tatters of Thought, Fragments of Impression, and Shards of Desire. These items are exclusive to Penacony and drop from Memory Zone Meme opponents. You can farm these naturally throughout Penacony or through the Simulated Universe. Another method of getting these is by completing Assignments that have these as rewards. The best way to farm these Boothill materials in Honkai: Star Rail, however, is to challenge Calyx (Golden) activities within Penacony. These items are also needed for Boothill’s Traces.

As the quality of your Ascension needs grows, remember to use the Omni-Synthsizer to transform lower-grade materials into higher-grade ones.

In addition to the aforementioned items, another material used to Ascend Boothill is called IPC Work Permit. This is an item added with Version 2.2. IPC Work Permit can be farmed in the Shape of Duty: Stagnant Shadow activity, located in the Clock Studios: Theme Park map on Penacony. This is a Physical-based Ascension material, and it is the same used to Ascend Robin in Honkai: Star Rail. A total of 65 IPC Work Permits are needed to complete Boothill’s Ascension process.

While you mainly need to farm for materials, Ascending a character also uses Credits. To get through all the level thresholds, you will consume a total of 308,000 Credits, but that is not the total cost. If you level up Boothill using Character EXP Materials, you will spend an additional 508,000 Credits. If you need more of this currency, farm Calyx (Golden): Bud of Treasures activities. While Credits come from several different sources, this is the steadiest way of getting more of them in Honkai: Star Rail.

If you farm for Credits in a Bud of Treasures activity in Penacony, you can simultaneously farm Tatters of Thought, Fragments of Impression, and Shards of Desire.

Materials For Boothill’s Traces (Abilities) In Honkai: Star Rail

Players Must Farm Boss Materials Added In Version 2.2

While Ascending Boothill is an important process, it is not the end of your work. Another necessary step is to level up all his Traces, the in-game name for a character’s abilities. This is a fairly expensive and time-consuming endeavor, so it is normal if you take a long time to complete it – especially when considering limitations on weekly boss challenges, as well as rare Trace materials like Tracks of Destiny, which may see you farming for weeks on end since you can only get one per week via the Simulated Universe.

The table below lists all the materials and resources needed to max out Boothill’s abilities in Honkai: Star Rail:

Boothill Trace Materials In Honkai: Star Rail Tatters of Thought 41x Fragments of Impression 56x Shards of Desire 58x Meteoric Bullet 18x Destined Expiration 69x Countertemporal Shot 139x Lost Echo of the Shared Wish 12x Tracks of Destiny 8x Credit 3,000,000x

As was previously mentioned, Tatters of Thought, Fragments of Impression, and Shards of Desire are also used in Boothill’s Trace-leveling process. Compared to his Ascension, you will need a lot more of these items than before, so an extensive amount of farming will be required if you do not already have a steady surplus promptly available to use. As a reminder, they drop from Memory Zone Memes, but the best way to farm these Boothill materials is to challenge Calyx (Golden) on Penacony in Honkai: Star Rail.

The other item family you will need to farm was added with Version 2.2. Meteoric Bullet, Destined Expiration, and Countertemporal Shot are exclusive for Hunt characters and can be farmed in the Calyx (Crimson): Bud of the Hunt activity located on the SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue map in Penacony. As an item family, you can transform lower-quality materials into higher-quality ones using your Synthesizer.

At higher Trace levels, Boothill’s abilities also require Lost Echo of the Shared Wish. This is a weekly boss material added with Version 2.2 that drops from the Echo of War: Salutations of Ashen Dreams activity. To unlock it, you will first have to complete the main story quests added with Version 2.2, which see you fight and defeat the Harmonius Choir: The Great Septimus boss in Honkai: Star Rail. You can only face weekly bosses three times per week, so it may take a while to gather everything that is necessary.

The final material is Tracks of Destiny, which can be farmed weekly at the Simulated Universe. You can also get more of these as rewards for limited-time events, twice a month in the Embers Exchange shop, and through the Starlight Exchange store. In addition to the materials, a large sum of Credits will also be needed, but you can always farm more at Calyx (Golden) activities. Ascending Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail can be a troublesome endeavor, but one that is necessary if you want to unlock his potential and start thinking about the best build for him.
