Thor Reveals Roster of New All-God Team Who Make the Avengers Look Like Amateurs
Summary Thor's new team, the Children of Odin, is made up of powerful gods, including Loki and Angela, as confirmed in the preview for The Immortal Thor #11.
They are searching for their missing brother, Tyr, who went missing in the G.O.D.S. tie-in page featured at the end of The Immortal Thor #1.
The team may also include Hela - another child of Odin - who is feared by her siblings, though readers won't know if that's true until the release of the full issue!
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Immortal Thor #11! Thor is famously a founding member of the Avengers, which is a team that has time and again proven why they are considered Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. However, as strong as the Avengers are, the superhero squad is nothing compared to Thor’s new team, as it consists of nothing but immensely powerful gods. And now, Marvel Comics has finally revealed not only the team’s entire roster, but also its name: the Children of Odin.
In a preview for The Immortal Thor #11 by Al Ewing and Valentina Pinti, Thor is on Asgard after he was framed for murdering the CEO of Roxxon Corporation, Dario, who was actually killed by Enchantress and Skurge the Executioner. The preview opens with Thor speaking with Captain America, as Sam Wilson tells Thor to remain off-world for the time being until his innocence can be proven.

After Thor ends his conversation with Captain America, it’s revealed that he was speaking to Sam during a meeting with his fellow gods, all of whom now make up his new team: the Children of Odin. Among them are Loki, Angela, Laussa, Balder the Brave, Honir the Hunter, and Vidar Giant’s-Child. This wasn’t an accidental gathering, either, as the preview specifically states that Thor called this meeting in Ullr’s Hall, though the exact purpose isn’t explicitly revealed - at least, not in this preview, anyway.

Thor Has Gathered His Siblings to Find Their Missing Brother: Tyr
Tyr was last seen in The Immortal Thor #1’s G.O.D.S. tie-in page.
Before this preview was released, Marvel Comics issued its official solicitation for The Immortal Thor #11, which included a description of the upcoming issue. That description reads as follows:
FOLLOWING UP ON THE G.O.D.S. PAGE FROM IMMORTAL THOR #1! Tyr had vanished, and there were whispers of cosmic forces at work. And so, the children of Odin gathered in their father's name — to search for one of their own. Regal Thor, fierce Angela, brave Balder, swift Hermod, quiet Honir, strong Vidar, cunning Loki, even Laussa the youngest, all were there... and another beside. Another, whose name they feared. This is the story of THE IMMORTAL THOR... and the lost son of Odin.
As described above, Tyr - the first son of Odin and originally the God of War and Heroic Glory - has gone missing, and it’s up to Thor and his other siblings to find their lost kin. While the Asgardians may not know where Tyr is, Marvel Comics fans actually know exactly where he was last seen.
The boxy Tyr is seen climbing into is the same box that's featured on the cover of The Immortal Thor #11, further confirming the Children of Odin's mission!
The final page of The Immortal Thor #1 is a tie-in with the series G.O.D.S., but that point is only made evident by the series’ logo appearing at the end, as none of the main characters from that ongoing book make an appearance themselves. Instead, the pages feature Tyr climbing into a box, guided by a disembodied voice telling him “This is your new home” and that he will “love it”.
It’s a haunting sequence, to be sure, but more confusing than anything else. However, with the full release of The Immortal Thor #11, this mystery that was established at the start of the series may finally be solved - and by a team that’s quite literally god-tier.
Who is MISSING From Thor’s New All-God Team?
Another striking point made in the solicitation isn’t who is on the team (which is confirmed for the first time on-panel in this preview), but who is missing. All the gods featured in the preview are named, but the description tells of “another beside. Another, whose name they feared”. Who is another child of Odin that would strike fear in the hearts of their siblings? While it’s impossible to say until the release of the full issue, that certainly sounds a lot like Hela.
Though her parentage has been the subject of much controversy and retcon, it’s revealed in Thor: Tales of Asgard that Odin did (at least at one point) consider Hela his daughter - which was carried over into the MCU. Therefore, Hela meets the criteria of being a child of Odin, as well as someone her siblings would rightfully fear.
While it’s interesting to consider who isn’t on Thor’s new ‘god-squad’, as well as what they’re going to be doing now that they’ve all come together under Thor’s leadership, it’s just as important to reflect on the established fellowship itself, especially as it relates to Thor’s other iconic team. For reasons that should be immediately obvious, Thor and the Children of Odin make the Avengers look like amateurs, both in terms of power and experience - and now, it’s time for them to prove it.
