In Dark Matter episode 4's closing scene, Leighton2 walks through the superpositioned corridor of The Box, hoping to find Jason and Amanda. To his dismay, he keeps opening doors to desolate, post-apocalyptic worlds with no form of life. He also seems heavily injured, suggesting he ended up in some dangerous worlds before returning to the box. Although Leighton's true purpose now seems ambiguous, his priority is finding a world where he can get his injuries treated. Once that is out of the way, he will probably continue his quest to look for Jason and Amanda.

However, considering how Leighton2 still does not understand how the box works, it will be a while before he finds the doorway to a desirable universe. In Dark Matter's future episodes, he will likely have a "Eureka" moment like Jason and Amanda and figure out how he can land in his desired universe. Till then, he will continue running into doomed, abandoned, and destroyed worlds with little to no signs of life.

After thinking about all the worlds they previously visited, the two realize they manifest their own reality. How Jason & Amanda Find The Box In The Frozen World

The Box Disturbs Magnetic Fields

In a pivotal scene from Dark Matter episode 4, Amanda panics and rushes into an unknown, frozen world. Jason follows her and takes her to an abandoned home to save her from getting hypothermia. However, after the snowstorm in the frozen world settles down, he realizes their box has been buried under snow, making it impossible for them to find it. When they set out to look for it, Amanda notices the box disrupts the magnetic fields around it, causing her compass to malfunction. Her newfound insight seems to be in tandem with what Leighton had previously revealed about the box.

He had mentioned that the box does not allow anything to pass through its walls. Therefore, its mere presence in any alternate world is enough to disturb Earth's magnetic fields surrounding it.
