Jim Parsons Gets Candid About Another Sheldon Cooper Return In The Big Bang Theory Universe

Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Young Sheldon series finale.

Summary Jim Parsons hints discuss the potential return of Sheldon post-Young Sheldon.

With Young Sheldon's conclusion, Sheldon's story could continue through Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage, although he won't be the center of its storytelling.

Jim Parsons offers a candid response when asked about the possibility of Sheldon's return after Young Sheldon. Despite long outgrowing its original premise and having an identity separate from its parent series, the Young Sheldon finale re-established its ties to The Big Bang Theory by bringing Parsons back as the titular character. Joined by Mayim Bialik, Sheldon and Amy's appearance took place in the post-The Big Bang Theory timeline, and functioned as a retrospective look at the headliner's Medford childhood.

In a new interview with E! Online, Parsons talks about the future of the character after Young Sheldon wrapped up and whether it's possible to see more of his story moving forward. For context, aside from providing the narration of the prequel, Parsons also executive produced Young Sheldon, making him one of its primary creative forces behind the camera. "Look, never say never to anything," Parsons exclusively told E! News at the Drama League Awards May 17. "Life is long, God willing. But I don't think so."

However, it's uncertain how open Parsons is to playing the role full-time again, considering that The Big Bang Theory ended because he wanted to leave.

The second avenue is the currently-unnamed The Big Bang Theory spinoff that Chuck Lorre is also developing. Depending on when it lands in the timeline, either Parsons or Armitage can appear in it, but it will likely have stronger narrative ties to the nerd-centric sitcom. Adult Sheldon's appearance in the Young Sheldon finale flashforward also left a lot of stories to explore because things have changed for him and Amy since winning the Nobel Prize. However, it's uncertain how open Parsons is to playing the role full-time again, considering that The Big Bang Theory ended because he wanted to leave.
