In an interview with Desert Sun, Abi shared that her American Idol hometown visit was astounding. She visited the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway with her family, returned to the George Washington Charter School in Palm Desert (where she auditioned for her first talent show), and finished the incredible experience with a parade and concert in downtown Indio. Abi said that having the kids at the school look up to her like she was "their hero" was such an honor. She added that it was "jaw-dropping" to see the signs and support that her fans had for her throughout the entire day.

Abi revealed that she felt "completely calm" during the American Idol season 22 finale elimination rounds because of her "love and respect" for Will and Jack. She explained, "It didn't really matter to me what the outcome was because I was so proud of both of them, and it would have made 100% sense to me if any of them had made it over me. So it wasn't scary." Abi also admitted that she thought that Will was going to win. She said, "I expected them to call Will Moseley; it just made sense to me. So to hear my name called, it really was not a scenario that I had pre-thought about."
