Darth Vader Wields The Power Of An Entire Death Star Against Palpatine

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Darth Vader #46

Summary Darth Vader unleashes the power of Palpatine's Kyber Temple on Exegol, dealing a devastating blow to his Sith Eternal cultists.

Vader is looking to claim Palpatine's power for himself, potentially hinting at building his own Death Star-like weapon.

The massive wave of energy may have caused delays in Palpatine's plans which were finally fulfilled in The Rise of Skywalker.

Darth Vader just wielded the power of an entire Death Star, seeking to hit Palpatine where it hurts the most in the Star Wars galaxy. Having gathered multiple new weapons and allies in what is likely a final bid to overthrow his master, Darth Vader has brought the full weight of his new power to bear on Exegol, Palpatine's secret Sith world hidden in the Unkown Regions. To that end, Vader is seen claiming Palpatine's secrets for himself after unleashing incredible power on his master's followers.

In the new Darth Vader #46 by Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco, the Dark Lord brings his new forces such as the Schism Imperial to Exegol, the Sith world his master showed to him in earlier issues of this ongoing series set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Seeking to introduce his own brand of order to the galaxy, Vader brutally attacks Palpatine's Sith Eternal cultists, wielding the devastating power of Exegol's Kyber Temple which holds a large store of massive red kyber crystals that had been corrupted to the dark side.

Unleashing a massive wave of energy looking on par with the classic kyber-powered Death Star, the Dark Lord's quest for power before Return of the Jedi has seemingly reached its peak.

Darth Vader Unleashed The Power Of Palpatine's Kyber Temple

Located on The Sith World of Exegol

Having been shown Exegol and Palpatine's secret work in prior issues, it was revealed to Vader that the Emperor had already begun work on the Final Order fleet of Star Destroyers seen in The Rise of Skywalker. Because each one was equipped with a planet-killing superlaser, not unlike the Death Star itself, they were more than likely powered by this giant store of red kyber crystals. However, Vader's devastating new attack in this issue is likely the explanation as to why it took three decades to fully assemble the fleet and bring Palpatine back from the dead following Episode VI.

Using the Force to connect with the large kyber crystals, the massive energy wave that followed completely decimates several Sith Eternal cultists. To that end, this likely resulted in massive delays for Palpatine's plans, which is likely part of what Vader had intended when planning this new "Razing of Exegol". While it's important to remember that Palpatine knew and was expecting his apprentice to move against him, he might have still been caught off guard by this devastating strike on Exegol.

Vader Is Claiming The Emperor's Secret Power For Himself

A Final Chance To Overthrow His Master

The true goal of Vader's attack looks to be claiming Palpatine's power for himself. Despite Lieutenant Pryde's fears that Vader had destroyed himself with the Kyber Temple's destruction, the Dark Lord emerges with his droid forces carrying a massive piece of red kyber. Considering Vader recently claimed his very own planet-killing device which drains the energy of entire worlds, Vader may be looking to build his very own Death Star (or something very similar). At any rate, unleashing such a powerful wave of kyber energy in this new Star Wars issue is certainly one of Darth Vader's most impressive moments.
