Little Kitty, Big City: How To Find (& Help) The Tanuki
The Tanuki is just one of several friendly animals you can encounter on the streets of Little Kitty, Big City and you can lend her a helping hand (paw?). This indie cat simulator has you playing as an adorable black cat, exploring the streets of a Japanese-inspired city and trying to get back home. By finding and helping Tanuki, you can unlock the game's fast travel system.
Tanuki can be found near the start of the game, shortly after you first meet the Crow and complete the tutorial section. To trade with the Crow for some vitality-boosting Fish, you need to track down some Shinies and are essentially free to explore the local streets. To find Tanuki, head past the Crow a short distance and then head down the right fork towards the construction zone.
How To Find Tanuki In Little Kitty, Big City
Further along the street, you will come across a gated area containing some concrete blocks to your right, and a small carpark to your left. If you look through the gate, you should spot Tanuki struggling to free herself from a piece of concrete.
To reach her, head further inside the gated area until you spot some construction materials, one of which forms a handy tunnel you can walk through to reach Tanuki. After some dialogue, Tanuki will reveal that she is currently stuck and would like your help, at which point you can grab her and pull her free.
Once Tanuki is free, she will ask for your help with finding three bird feathers for her latest invention: the Petwork fast travel system.
How To Get Bird Feathers For Tanuki In Little Kitty, Big City
Getting three Bird Feathers involves some very cat-like behavior. Head to the opposite side of the street where a ginger cat is lazing around on top of a parking ticket booth. This friendly feline will inform you that you can get bird feathers by catching and startling the bluebirds you may have seen flying around.
To catch and startle a bird, crouch (Ctrl on PCs) and sneak up to a bird until you see a prompt that allows you to pounce. If you time your jump right, you should knock the bird over and stun it, causing it to drop a blue feather.
If you can't get birds to stay still for long enough, grab some bread. Unlike the human-free world of Stray, humans are present in Little Kitty, Big City and can be interacted with. Keep an eye out for any humans holding bread or sandwiches, and swipe at them so they drop their food. When dropped, bread will attract birds. Even donuts will work.
Once you have three Feathers, bring them back to Tanuki. She will complete her reality-warping invention and teleport you through to the construction zone you couldn't reach earlier. Once you exit the construction zone, Tanuki will have disappeared. However, you can track her down again to unlock fast travel.
How To Unlock Fast Travel In Little Kitty, Big City
To unlock fast travel, find a sewer cover with some artwork on it. There are a total of eight scattered around the game's map as shown above, and Tanuki will pop up if you interact with them.
Each fast travel point can be unlocked with one Feather, so pounce on a few more birds to get what you need. Unlocking Little Kitty, Big City's fast travel system is a huge benefit as you can get around much faster, putting you one step closer to getting home.
