Survivor’s Ben Katzman Reveals How He Would’ve Broken Tie Vote
Summary Ben Katzman was part of the final three on Survivor 46 and revealed he would have voted for Charlie if there was a tie.
Ben felt ignored by the jury during final deliberations and shared that his gameplay wasn't shown properly on the show.
Despite his struggles on Survivor, Ben formed strong connections, especially with Charlie, and played with class and dignity.
Survivor 46’s Ben Katzman was part of the final three and ineligible to vote, but after a controversial tribal council, Ben revealed how he would’ve voted if things had ended in a tie between winner Kenzie Petty and runner-up Charlie Davis. While the Survivor 46 castaways have been moving rapidly since the merge, the final tribal council revealed some shocking allegiances, and lack thereof, in the game. After choosing to bring Charlie to the final three and having Kenzie and Liz Wilcox battle it out for the third spot, Ben made his case to the jury but came up short.
“Charlie was my day one"
During the final vote, Kenzie wound up winning by a vote of 5 to 3 against Charlie, which was shocking for viewers who expected Maria Shrime Gonzalez to cast her vote for Charlie, creating a tie. In the event of a tie, Ben would’ve cast the final vote and shared with Parade he would’ve chosen Charlie over Kenzie for the win. “Charlie was my day one. And you even see it before we get to the merge. That's when my physicality was starting to get rough. And he went and got water for me. We did play together,” Ben explained.

Ben Katzman Accuses Survivor Jury Of Ignoring Him
Close
While Ben shared that he was happy with the outcome of Survivor, there were some difficult moments getting to the endgame from his vantage point. During the final three jury deliberations, Ben shared that he felt ignored by the jury in favor of their questioning Charlie and Kenzie. “Nobody asked me questions that Tribal,” Ben shared. “People said, ‘time’ when I was talking. And I mean, they were even laughing when I opened my mouth. And that was one of the hardest things about watching it back, too, because then my gameplay wasn't shown.”
While Ben’s experience on Survivor was one that he doesn’t regret, there were some difficult moments during his time on the series. From his difficult mental state throughout Survivor 46, which led him to anxiety spirals and night terrors from lack of sleep and disorientation to his dismissal by the jury during the final three deliberations, Ben had a hard time throughout the season even though he played a great game. Regardless of who he was up against, Ben deserved a fair and equal process to the rest of the finalists rather than what he got.
As Ben’s time on Survivor has come to an end, it’s clear that he struggled throughout the competition but has gained some incredible connections through the game. Ben’s relationship with Charlie, which has continued outside of the game, has grown and continued to strengthen. As the second runner-up, Ben has been able to create a name for himself through Survivor, playing the game with class and dignity throughout the entire season.
