Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Is Hiding A Secret Encounter With Solomon Reed
Summary Idris Elba's Solomon Reed is a top spy in Cyberpunk 2077, but his skills as a bouncer fall short.
Find Reed working his day job at the Electric Orgasm bar in the Phantom Liberty DLC for a fun discovery.
Elba's nuanced performance in the expansion adds depth to the game, leaving fans hoping for a sequel return.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty makes it clear that Idris Elba's Solomon Reed is extremely good at his job in the Federal Intelligence Agency but his cover is even deeper than many fans believed. Shortly after V begins working with Reed to track down Songbird, they overhear a conversation between the spy and a bar manager, prompting Elba's character to explain that he works as a bouncer in his free time as both cover and a means of making some extra cash. As it turns out, it's actually possible to find him stationed at his post.
Per PC Gamer, content creator Madd Gamer shared a video highlighting how to find Solomon Reed at his day job at the Electric Orgasm bar where fixer Dino Dinovic operates.
Even before beginning the Phantom Liberty DLC, it's possible to see him standing alongside the door, decked out with his iconic sunglasses. It's certainly a fun discovery that just goes even further to create an immersive, lived-in world, even though Reed is so committed to his cover that he'll only speak with typical bouncer phrases, which don't make for stimulating conversation.

Going Undercover With Solomon Reed
A Great Spy, A Less Impressive Bouncer
While Reed may be one of the most effective spies working for the FIA, his abilities as a bouncer certainly leaves a great deal to be desired. In their video, Madd Gamer fires off several shots into the bar, even killing one of the patrons, but Reed simply looks on without flinching. The clip was captured shortly after the release of Phantom Liberty on September 30, so it's possible that his AI has been tweaked in subsequent patches but given his importance to the expansion's story, it seems unlikely that he'd engage V in a fight.
Solomon Reed is arguably one of the best characters in the entirety of Cyberpunk 2077 as he's one of only a handful of characters that actually trusts V and keeps his word. He's forced to endure an extreme amount of pressure when it comes to his duty to the FIA and he's constantly forced between a rock and a hard pace when it comes to doing his job and his emotions regarding Songbird. Phantom Liberty did many things right, but the addition of Solomon Reed may have been the DLC's biggest triumph.
It's also worth noting that while many believed Idris Elba's role in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was stunt casting, he delivered a nuanced, thoughtful performance that defied many expectations. It's a pity that completing the expansion sees him leave Night City given the genuine connection he forms with V. One can only hope that Reed makes a return in the sequel which is currently in development.
