Morgan Spurlock, the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker behind Super Size Me and many other documentaries, has passed away at the age of 53.
As confirmed by his family (via Variety and other outlets), Spurlock passed away in upstate New York due to complications from cancer. Craig Spurlock, who worked with his brother on several projects, including Morgan Spurlock Inside Man and 7 Deadly Sins, shared the following statement:
It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan. Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas and generosity. Today the world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him.
