The latest Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion set, Twilight Masquerade, has already made waves in online markets with some of its highly sought-after rare cards. As part of the Scarlet & Violet sets for the Pokémon TCG, Twilight Masquerade features many special illustration rares that showcase beloved characters from the video game, including many mask variants of Ogerpon, as well as some Tera-form characters. Even without familiarity of the video games, however, this TCG set offers beautiful cards with some powerful attacks and many pulls that can be quite valuable.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Twilight Masquerade set officially released on May 24, 2024. Although the base set has 167 cards included, there are 59 more secret cards which are numbered higher, including 11 Special Illustration Rare & Supporter cards. These rarer pulls are not only striking in their full-card artwork, but can be quite valuable for collectors and fans. The lovable Eevee is a cute and cuddly friend that rivals even that of Pikachu for being one of the most beloved of creatures in the Pokémon universe, even before it evolves into its many different forms to cover the gambit of power types in the game. In Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade, the fluffy friend is shown in a full-card illustration that has eight Eevee's soaking up some sunshine in a comfortable living room.
Keep in mind that market prices for Pokémon cards fluctuate regularly, so the listed prices may have increased or decreased since the time of writing.
Keen observers will note that the number of visible Eevee's is equal to the number of evolution possibilities, suggesting each of these identical Pokémon may be destined for very different lives. Ogerpon is one of the key figures for the DLC story of the Pokémon: Scarlet & Violet video games, and is known as equipping several masks that provide her with different strengths and abilities in battle. One of these is the Hearthflame mask, which is depicted in a menacing terastallized version for the special illustration rare card number 212/167 of Twilight Masquerade.
As the name, Hearthflame, would suggest, when Ogerpon dons this particular piece of headgear, she takes on a Fire-type skillset, including the Wrathful Hearth attack. To make it an even more powerful card, Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon is not only a Tera card, but also an ex card. Currently, this is the least valuable of the several mask variation cards in the Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade set, with a market price on TCGPlayer of $46.32.

Another of Ogerpon's impressive masks, and one of the most feminine and striking in its grace, beauty, and emotions it evokes, is the Wellspring mask. Depicted in the special illustration rare card 213/167, this blue mask includes a sad expression complete with teardrops streaming down the cheeks. In the full-art card, the mask takes on the crystalline Tera-type form, which somehow manages to make the mask look even more heartbroken and sad, which combines nicely with the attack called simply Sob.
This card is covered in the blue crystalized look, appearing to be an icy feminine face crying sparkling tears. According to TCGPlayer, the Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex card holds a market value of $51.01 USD at the time of writing, with prices having recently dropped from being $61.98 not long ago. With many collectors desiring to have the full set of Ogerpon mask special illustration rares, the values of each mask card will likely rise and fall while more people begin to open packs of cards and the number of cards in the market fluctuate.

An accomplished fisherwoman, the Pokémon trainer and trial captain, Lana, is adept at using Water-type Pokémon. In this Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade set, she is shown in a full-card design that showcases her love of water as she is crouched on a shoreline with several Water-type friends surrounding her.
Full artwork Trainer cards are often highly desirable for collectors, and this Lana's Aid card is no exception. At the time of writing, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex's special illustration rare card 211/167 is listed on TCGPlayer as having a market value of $66.22 USD, an amount which has stayed relatively consistent thus far. Being the most recognizable mask version for Ogerpon, and the namesake of the DLC, this card is the most collectible of the Ogerpon ex series.

The Buddy-Buddy Poffin is an item card that has a secret card rarity for card number 223/167 and features eye-catching gold card coloring. Its full-card artwork shows two of the Poffin candies, which can aid trainers in many video games when attempting to level up their Pokémon.

One of the most interesting features of this special illustration rare Trainer card of the photography-loving Perrin, is that it is part of a two-card matching set. On this card number 220/167, Perrin's camera shows a reflection of the Pokémon she is taking a picture of, the Hisuian Growlithe. Another special illustration rare card in the Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade set is none other than that Hisuian Growlithe in card 181/167, where the Growlithe is clearly shown happily looking up at Perrin with its front paws on her legs.
Although Hisuian Growlithe's card is not valued as highly as Perrin's, for many collectors it will be desirable to get both cards in order to have the full story that is shown in the lovely illustration. Currently, on TCGPlayer, Perrin's card number 220/167 is being listed with a market price of $68.81 USD.

The Bloodmoon Beast, Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex, comes in as one of the more valued cards for the Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade set. Perhaps due to its darker story of this unique evolution that was discovered in the DLC for Scarlet & Violet, this Pokémon immediately captured the hearts of many fans. This special illustration rare card shows a lighter side of things, however, with a more cheerful depiction of Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex simply on a little quest for honey within a tree, with several Teddiursa and even a Munchlax looking on in awe.
This rare card for Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex in the Twilight Masquerade set is valued with a market price of $80.22 USD on TCGPlayer at the time of writing. Only days ago, however, the card was being sold for close to $100, further showing the fluctuation in the market already with the card.
2 Carmine 217/167

Prior to the release of Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade, the special illustration rare card of the trainer Carmine was selling for over $120, but sadly saw a drop in value as more cards were getting into the hands of collectors. It remains one of the most coveted cards, however, featuring a vibrant illustration of Carmine with a candy apple in her hand in what appears to be an amusement park of some kind. The card also offers a useful ability, allowing a player to discard their hand to draw 5 cards.
Even though prices have been dropping, as of the time of writing this article, Carmine's secret rare card 217/167 is still seeing high prices in online sales. Currently, on TCGPlayer, the card is shown as having a market price of $96.29 USD.

The most coveted of cards in the Twilight Masquerade set is the Fighting-type frog, Greninja ex, with a special illustration rare card 214/167. Not only is Greninja ex an already powerful Pokémon, but it is an ex card and has the benefit of being terastallized. The Tera form of Greninja ex gives this colorful card an even more eye-catching appearance, with the crystallized appearance evident even while surrounded by a barrage of colors surrounding them.
Greninja ex's secret rare card has stayed fairly consistent in online market prices, at least as of writing this article. Currently, it is listed on TCGPlayer at a market price of $146.66 USD, with prices having gone as high as $156 recently. The card is a true work of art in its illustration and offers players a useful ability to find cards in the deck and add them to the hand, something that is always needed in the Pokémon TCG.
