The iconic Z-Warrior known as Trunks is a badass Dragon Ball hero who has been a staple character of the franchise for decades and has appeared in the series in some form or another ever since his debut during the Cell Saga as a time-traveling Super Saiyan. Not yet making the jump to the real world, the cosplay community has stepped up where Hollywood hasn’t, giving fans a jaw-dropping Trunks cosplay that proves the character can work in live-action.

A custom look recently shared on social media via Instagram by Max (@maxercise), this creator doesn’t have as many posts as some other cosplay accounts, but he more than makes up for it with quality costumes that truly wow.

Dressing not only as Dragon Ball’s Trunks but also Demon Slayer’s Inosuke and Tengen, Attack on Titan’s Eren Jaeger, and even Jujutsu Kaisen’s Kento Nanami and Toji Fushiguro, Max is a creative talent who is already off to a great start, especially if his future projects are anywhere close to being as impressive as these are.

Trunks Cosplay Shows Exactly What Dragon Ball's Live-Action Space Needs

A character who has two distinct versions of himself running around at any given moment — the incredibly powerful Future Trunks from an alternate timeline and the current Kid/Teen Trunks popping up in the pages of Dragon Ball Super — Trunks is hands down one of the most popular Z-Fighters this side of series protagonist Goku. Arriving on the scene in Dragon Ball Z after he makes mincemeat of Cyborg Frieza, Trunks’ purple hair, Capsule Corp jacket, and signature sword all lend him to being one of the few characters who can work in live-action, something Tom manages to prove here.

Shot by @sleepyashfoto, the first photo shows exactly what needs to be part of Trunks’ live-action debut more than anything else: his sword. Brandishing the weapon that cut Frieza down to size, Tom looks the part with his purple hair, blue eyes, similar denim jacket, and scowl, selling an anime-accurate design that simply is Future Trunks. Giving fans a few images of his anime counterpart next, Tom throws in a photo of him looking through his hands directly at the camera, giving fans another great snapshot of a design that does this character justice.

New Trunks Cosplay Makes A Case For Dragon Ball To Return To Live-Action

It’s unlikely that Goku and the rest of the characters from Dragon Ball fame will be making the transition to the big or small screen anytime soon — especially considering how universally panned 2009’s Dragon Ball Evolution was on nearly all levels — but it’s good to know that cosplayers like Max (@maxercise) are around to show fans what they’re missing. Trunks deserves to step into the real world and to be recognized for the potential movie star he is, so here’s hoping the Dragon Ball Universe gets treated right in the live-action space in the near future.
