EA Sports College Football 25 Has Already Made A Fatal Mistake
Summary EA College Football 25 won't be on PC at launch, affecting the potential player base.
Exclusion could be due to legal concerns regarding college players' images and modders.
The franchise returns with popular modes from the past and entirely new options.
Though there is a lot of hype about EA Sports College Football 25, the rebirth of the popular franchise has already made a possible fatal mistake. The franchise returns after over a decade to reinvigorate a horde of fans that had been overwhelmingly supporting a revival. American college football is, arguably, as popular as the professional league. The video game franchise also had more engaging modes when it came to stories and reliving the college experience virtually.
This revival is keeping the popular modes in Dynasty, Road to Glory, and Team Builder. Road to Glory is the intriguing option, allowing players to play through their college career. However, the difference between this version and Madden's is that the character needs to perform consistently to play. New modes to look forward to include the always popular Ultimate Team, as well as a College Football Playoffs mode trying to imitate the popularity of the real thing.
A Huge Missed Opportunity

Unfortunately, when College Football 25 launches in July 2024, it will not be available on PC. It has not been said why this is the case, but it could be released eventually. The Madden franchise had similar circumstances with delayed PC launches, so there is a chance it will just take extra time. The other alternative is that future sequels – if this franchise follows the yearly model – will eventually move to PC.
While this exclusion is unlikely to massively hurt the game, it is a big blow for a popular return. Cutting out what will likely be a large part of the player base will drastically lower the profit the game sees. However, the reason for PC's exclusion may be related to the platform's unique capabilites compared to the more controlled envrionment of consoles.
Legal Concerns Aplenty

The most popular theory about why College Football 25 won't launch on PC is for legal reasons. While EA can use real college players, these players can also object to their likeness being used. So the theory goes that EA fears modders putting players who are not supposed to be there into the game and causing issues. Overall, if this is true, with how many sponsors and legalities factor into college football, this may be a wise move despite how silly it may sound.
The other popular theory is the fear of performance. EA Sports games have become notorious for underperforming regardless of platform. So the exclusion could be to avoid the backlash or give the team more time to prepare a PC version. However, it would be somewhat odd if this was the case and not explained to players, so they know it will be released eventually.
While no PC version, or a delay in the best-case scenario, is not ideal for the franchise's return, it likely means little long-term. With how much demand for a return and the hype surrounding it, the chances are the title will be a massive monetary success. After that will determine if the franchise continues and ever makes it to computers. Regardless, there is a chance that EA College Football 25 could make a fatal mistake by not launching on PC.
