Elden Ring Gets A Lot Easier Before Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Thanks To Helpful New Mod

Summary Struggling Elden Ring players can benefit from a mod that adds auto-regeneration for health and focus points, providing a helpful edge.

The upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC promises to make Elden Ring even tougher with new enemies and bosses, set in the Land of Shadow.

While the DLC is set to arrive on June 21, FromSoftware has no plans for further expansions but hints at possible sequels in the future.

It's no secret that Elden Ring is a brutal game littered with punishing encounters so those struggling players who want to complete it before starting the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC should check out this mod. One of the key aspects of the Soulslike genre is some form of healing that functions on charges that can only be refiled at a rest point, serving as a tangible counter for the number of mistakes allowed in a run. It's certainly an effective means of challenging The Tarnished in Elden Ring, but sometimes a helping hand is necessary.

Published to Nexus Mods by creator Sereenaty, the very simple mod simply adds an auto-regeneration function to the game which causes The Tarnished to constantly regain both Health Points and Focus Points. It's a small adjustment that doesn't necessarily make the game a walk in the path but can provide an edge during some of the tougher boss encounters. Players who aren't careful will still die to enemies that are able to stack multiple hits into a comb, but evading the attacks or defending appropriately should grant enough time to refill the health bar.

Elden Ring Is About To Become Even Tougher

Shadow of the Erdtree Looks HARD

Elden Ring is a tough game by its very nature but given some of the teases provided by FromSoftware, it could become significantly harder in Shadow of the Erdtree. The massive expansion, which is set to add an entirely new area that's roughly the size of Limgrave, is poised to introduce a plethora of new enemies and bosses. The developer has yet to pin down a specific number, but given that the game's install size is roughly 60GB, which is larger than the base version at 50GB, it's fair to assume that there's a wealth of new encounters.

As for the narrative, FromSoftware has confirmed that players will venture to the Land of Shadow, guided by Miquella. The game's story trailer suggests that The Tarnished will need to smite the firey villain known as Messmer the Impaler who leads an army against the Erdtree. While he may not be the final boss, it certainly seems that he'll be a major opponent as the Tarnished aids those who would see the Land of Shadow cleansed.

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdree DLC is slated to arrive on June 21, but once it's here, fans shouldn't expect more in the way of additional content updates. FromSoftware has stated that it has no intention to release more expansions. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has suggested that the studio could return to the universe in a different game though, meaning a sequel could be possible even though such a project has yet to be confirmed.
