Moon Knight Will Unlocks New Powers to Kill Black Panther in WAR OF THE KINGDOMS
Summary Moon Knight's army seeks power to overtake Wakanda, facing T'Challa in a war for control in the Ultimate Universe.
Black Panther must wield Moon Knight's newfound Earth-controlling power to survive, or it threatens to kill him, as shown on the cover of the upcoming Ultimate Black Panther #7.
The glowing green orb fueling Moon Knight's new power imbues great strength, but T'Challa must face unknown consequences if he wants to make it his own.
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Ultimate Black Panther #7! Black Panther and the entirety of Wakanda is at war with Moon Knight in Marvel Comics - not ‘Moon Knight’ the vigilante, ‘Moon Knight’ the army. In the newly-established Ultimate Universe of Earth-6160, Moon Knight isn’t a hero, or even a person. Moon Knight is the army of Ra and Khonshu, who are working together to overtake Wakanda to grow their own empire. And now, it seems they’ve just gained the power to do so.
In the solicitation for Ultimate Black Panther #7 by Bryan Hill and Stefano Caselli, fans are given the official description of the upcoming issue along with a first-look at the cover art. What’s immediately obvious to those who have been following the Ultimate Black Panther series isn’t just the fact that T’Challa is fighting for his life, but the presence of a certain ominous glowing green orb.
While T’Challa has sought to grow his power, so too have the forces of Moon Knight… And with access to a unique new resource, Ra and Khonshu are stronger than ever! How will Wakanda stand in its resistance against the kings of the Upper and Lower Kingdoms? And is T’Challa prepared to bear the consequences of tapping into such dangerous wells of power?
Weaponized plantlife has attached itself to Black Panther’s body, apparently causing him great harm despite the protection of his vibranium suit. As he grips a handful of the attacking plants, more vines rise from the earth to launch another attack, and it seems as though it may be too much for T’Challa to take. And the source of power responsible for throwing Black Panther into such anguish is the aforementioned glowing green orb hanging over him in the sky, as it seems Moon Knight got its hands on it after all.

Moon Knight & Black Panther’s War of the Kingdoms May End with Wakanda’s Downfall
Close
Before one can understand what this ‘green ore’ is, one must first revisit why it’s being used against Black Panther in the first place, and what this artwork reveals about the wider storyline in the Ultimate Universe.
The origin of this conflict lies with that of this new Ultimate Universe itself. When the Maker came to this world to reshape it in his image, he created a secret society of super-villains that govern the planet from the shadows. The Maker elected Ra and Khonshu (the living embodiments of the Egyptian Gods) as the dual rulers of the entire African continent. However, even with their godly might and the Maker’s backing, Ra and Khonshu could not penetrate Wakanda. Their Moon Knight army wasn’t strong enough to breach the hidden city’s walls - until now.
Ra and Khonshu have been searching for a mysterious source of power, and in Ultimate Black Panther #3, readers learn what that is. After aligning himself with Killmonger and Storm, the two freedom fighters show T’Challa a hidden cave housing the ‘green ore’ that fans can see hanging in the sky on the cover of Ultimate Black Panther #7. The nature of this power source remains a mystery, but all that matters right now is that its power is seemingly unparalleled, and the Moon Knight forces will do anything to attain it. And now, it seems they have.
Black Panther Will Be Forced to Use Moon Knight’s New Power Against It - & Face the Consequences
Based on the fact that Black Panther is being attacked by plants, it stands to reason that this ‘green ore’ gives one power over the Earth itself. It also makes sense that Ra (god of the sun) and Khonshu (god of the moon) would seek the power to control the Earth as well. However, while Moon Knight seems to wield this power on the cover of Ultimate Black Panther #7, the description teases the idea that they will not keep it.
Black Panther will have to use this power himself if he hopes to survive the War of the Kingdoms - but does he have the strength to wield such energy? And what are the consequences of doing so?
As of now, fans have no idea what the ‘consequences’ of tapping into this power will be, only that T’Challa will face them if he does so (as revealed in the solicitation). However, it seems Black Panther will have no choice but to risk it in order to stop Moon Knight and protect Wakanda - and himself. The War of the Kingdoms rages on in the Ultimate Universe, and only time will tell if Black Panther is strong enough to defend his kingdom, or if Moon Knight has, indeed, gained the power to kill him once and for all.
Ultimate Black Panther #7 by Marvel Comics is available August 7, 2024.
