Bad Boys 4 Already Set Up Michael Bay's Perfect Cameo After Bad Boys For Life

Bad Boys 4 Already Set Up Michael Bay's Perfect Cameo After Bad Boys For Life

Summary After directing the first two Bad Boys movies, Michael Bay returned in the legacy sequel, Bad Boys For Life, for a cameo as the MC at Marcus' daughter's wedding.

Will Smith's character Mike appears to be getting married in the upcoming fourth installment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, allowing Michael Bay to have another cameo as the same wedding MC.

Since he's no longer directing them, Michael Bay having cameos in the new Bad Boys movies keeps him connected to a franchise he helped build.

Bad Boys For Life already set the foundation for another Michael Bay cameo in the upcoming fourth installment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Viewers were first introduced to Miami PD detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) in the buddy cop comedy Bad Boys (1995). Eight years later, the franchise expanded when Smith and Lawrence returned as the chaotic duo in Bad Boys II. These first two Bad Boys movies were directed by Michael Bay, who had a cameo in the sequel as a random driver whose car Marcus nearly carjacks.

In 2020, a legacy sequel was released called Bad Boys For Life, which saw Smith and Lawrence reprise their iconic roles once more. Although he handed the reins over to directing duo Adil & Bilall for Bad Boys 3, Bay still got the chance to have a cameo in Bad Boys 3. The next installment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, is set to be released in theaters on June 7, 2024. One confirmed detail about Bad Boys 4's story sets up the perfect cameo opportunity for Bay.

Michael Bay Can Return As An MC At Mike's Wedding In Bad Boys 4

Bay Previously Played The MC At Marcus' Daughter's Wedding In Bad Boys 3

Rather than appear as a brand new minor character, Michael Bay could actually reprise his same cameo role from Bad Boys For Life in Bad Boys: Ride or Die. In Bad Boys 3, Bay played the MC at Marcus' daughter, Megan (Bianca Bethun)'s wedding, six months after Mike was almost killed in an assassination attempt. Bay's nameless MC announces Mike's return as he appears in a wheelchair to give a heartfelt speech.

It looks like Bad Boys 4 will feature another wedding, and this time, one of the leads is getting married. Set photos from Bad Boys: Ride or Die show Mike tying the knot with his new love interest, Christine (Melanie Liburd). Bay's cameo in Bad Boys 3 created a plot hole in the franchise's cinematic universe because of his previous appearance in Bad Boys 2, but the fourth movie could avoid digging this hole any deeper if Bay returns as the same MC at Mike's wedding.

Bad Boys 4 Leaving Out A Michael Bay Cameo Would Be A Mistake

The Bad Boys Franchise Wouldn't Be What It Is Today Without Bay

It has yet to be revealed whether Bay will in fact have a cameo in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, but it would be a big letdown if he doesn't. Bay played an instrumental role in the success of the Bad Boys franchise as a whole, and while he may have stepped down from the director's chair, Bay's cameo in Bad Boys 3 allowed a piece of him to remain in this world. Bad Boys 4 needs to continue this new tradition by bringing Bay back for a brief cameo.

Filming for Bad Boys 4 wrapped in March, so unless there was a scheduling conflict, there's no reason Bay not to make an appearance, especially since Mike's wedding allows him to return in the same role. Time will tell whether Bad Boys: Ride or Die will take advantage of this repeated event and drop the same Easter egg, but it would be a huge missed opportunity if Bay doesn't show up.
