Starfield Player Discovers A Bizarre Sight Hanging Above New Atlantis

Summary A massive diamond-shaped UFO has been spotted above New Atlantis in Starfield, sparking theories of aliens.

Players speculate on the possible origins of the UFO, from multiversal beings to the upcoming Shattered Space DLC introducing new alien species.

Recent updates to Starfield, including a map feature and expanded ship interior options, have improved the player experience.

Being set in the endless expanse of space, it makes sense that Starfield has the occasional Unidentified Flying Object but one player may just discovered the biggest one yet and it's hanging out in a strange destination. One of the major mysteries of the universe that Starfield's cast has yet to solve is whether or not another intelligent species exists out in the cosmos; there may be plenty of alien animals but nothing that comes close to humanity. That may be about to change though as a strange ship could be an indicator of something extremely powerful.

Posted to Reddit by user suzuchi, the player shared images of a strange diamond-shaped UFO hanging above New Atlantis, Starfield's biggest and most populated city.

Upon first glance, it looks like it could simply be a distant planet or star but zooming in with a sniper's scope reveals that it has a distinct shape, suggesting an intelligent species constructed it. Other players have suggested that it's just a human ship but the scale of the object is gigantic; it's easily larger than any of the game's commercial ships and spacestations aren't included in the base game.

A Sign Of What's To Come?

Starfield's Space Could Soon Be Shattered

Many of the replies have suggested that the ship belongs to a Starborn that's crossed over between universes and it's positioned over New Atlantis to keep a watchful eye on Constellation. It's certainly a fun theory, with some of the more outlandish suggestions being that a multiversal version of the player character is actually the one commanding the vessel. While it certainly appears to be of alien origin, there's been no indication that such a faction would be added to the game, meaning it's either a fun bit of world-building or potentially a glitch.

Some have suggested that the ship could be some kind of teaser regarding the upcoming DLC Shattered Space which is poised to introduce a whole new story into Starfield. Bethesda has yet to reveal any information regarding the expansion, but it's entirely possible that it could introduce some kind of alien species for players to combat. Shattered Space doesn't have a solid release date just yet but it will launch before the end of 2024.

Starfield's most recent update has seen its community surge after Bethesda added a handful of meaningful quality-of-life updates that have significantly improved the experience. The inclusion of a functioning map has been praised by players as the most important addition yet and the expanded ship interior decorating options have proven very popular. The studio has promised that future updates will similarly add a wealth of major features, such as the high-anticipated land vehicle to make exploration easier.
