Warning! Contains Spoilers For Doom (2024)!

There's no denying that Iron Man is one of the most brilliant mechanical minds to ever exist in the Marvel Universe, but Doctor Doom managed to create something that not even Tony has been able to match. With the entire universe at stake, Doctor Doom constructed a mech capable of fighting against Galactus.

Doom (2024) #1 – by Jonathan Hickman and Sanford Greene – made Marvel's first cosmic villain truly terrifying again, as Galactus ravaged the universe, consumed by madness and hunger, with only Doctor Doom left to stop him. As Doom attempted to kill Galactus, he constructed a machine unlike anything seen before.

Doom's anti-Galactus mech suit is one one Marvel's most stunning technological achievements, emphasizing that the long-time villain and Latvarian dictator may even outclass Iron Man with his abilities as an inventor.

Doctor Doom Proved The Extent Of His Genius With His Anti-Galactus Tech

Doctor Doom #1 – Written By Jonathan Hickman & Sanford Greene; Art By Greene, Rachelle Rosenberg, & Joe Caramagna

Tony Stark has managed some truly absurd feats...yet they simply pale in comparison to what Dr. Doom achieved in Doom #1.

It is important to note that Doctor Doom's creation in Doom #1 doesn't defeat Galactus. This maddened version of Galactus is so powerful that he's capable of destroying five Celestials with a single blast, but Doctor Doom ultimately gets far closer to beating Galactus than anyone else did. This throws into sharp relief the true separation in abilities between Victor Von Doom and Tony Stark. Stark is widely considered Marvel's foremost tech genius; it is easy to name ten or more Iron Man suits that are utterly brilliant from conception to use in battle.

That said, Doctor Doom has proven himself to be on more than equal footing with his counterpart. Tony Stark is so recognized for his skills that other heroes, such as Elektra and Spider-Man, have often come to him for upgrades to their suits. Tony Stark has managed some truly absurd feats, such as turning a Celestial into an Iron Man suit for himself. Not to mention the time he fused his Iron Man suit with a brain-dead symbiote to create the Extrembiote. All of these things are undeniably impressive, and yet they simply pale in comparison to what Dr. Doom achieved in Doom #1.

Dr. Doom's Mech Is Orders Of Magnitude Stronger Than Iron Man's Suits

While living on borrowed time, with the clock ticking faster and faster, only Doctor Doom managed to stand against Galactus.

Certainly, it can be argued that Iron Man could have created a suit to battle Galactus, but unfortunately, he didn't. The Avengers knew that Galactus was coming to Earth, and they had enough time to gather every hero and villain on Earth and inform them. Yet in all this time, Iron Man didn't create anything to specifically take on Galactus. Just like the rest of the Avengers, and everyone on Earth, Iron Man was obliterated by Galactus. It was only Doctor Doom who had both the time and skill to create a suit capable of giving Galactus a legitimate fight.

While Doctor Doom did ultimately fail in his battle against Galactus, it's worth pointing out that this same Galactus obliterated five Celestials on his own. Yet despite this, he had to actually expend some effort to defeat Doctor Doom and even then, he didn't kill Doom. Doom was able to survive his encounter with Galactus, which is more than literally anyone in this universe can say. While living on borrowed time, with the clock ticking faster and faster, only Doctor Doom managed to stand against Galactus.
