10 Best Gojo Moments in Jujutsu Kaisen That Prove Why He's the Series' Most Iconic Hero
Summary Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen has had a significant impact on both anime and music culture.
Gojo's iconic moments in JJK include epic battles, humorous interactions, and impactful relationships.
The character of Gojo is beloved for his audacious humor, unmatched curse techniques, and unique character design.
Throughout Jujutsu Kaisen's first two seasons and feature film, Gojo has stolen the show countless times. Whether an anime fan or not, everyone has heard the name "Gojo" and recognizes his iconic white-haired, blindfolded appearance. Gojo has not only had a historical impact on anime culture but has also infiltrated the music world.
During the 2024 Superbowl, a social media rumor circulated that Usher would perform "Daddy's Home", a song fans have heavily associated with Gojo, and pay tribute to the character. While the artist did not deliver according to TikTok's expectations, the scenario provides a glimpse into Gojo's impact on American and Japanese entertainment media.
Gojo made an "appearance" at a Ricky Montgomery concert in Austin, Texas. A fan showed up in cosplay in honor of "Mr. Loverman", a song that has become a fandom symbol of Gojo and Geto's relationship. Not only did the artist feature the moment on social media, but he also recently mentioned that he plans to finally watch JJK due to the association of his song and the fandom.
Jujutsu Kaisen was created by manga artist Gege Akutami. However, this title is only a pen name. The creator's name and identity have never been revealed, but their work is known by fans worldwide. In addition, JJK is considered a part of the quintessential shonen "Dark Trio", which includes Chainsaw Man and Hell's Paradise, all of which are animated by MAPPA. While there are very few unlikable characters in the series, Gojo is by far the most beloved. His audacious humor, incomparable curse techniques, and genius character design earn Gojo his role amongst the most incredible anime protagonists of all time.

10 Gojo's First Eye Reveal – Domain Expansion: Infinite Void
Few moments in Jujutsu Kaisen can live up to Gojo's first eye reveal.
The Six Eyes, a unique ability passed down in the Gojo Clan, grants the white-haired hero his incredible strength. In season 1, episode #7, Gojo defeats Jogo, a powerful special-grade curse, by utilizing Domain Expansion: Infinite Void. However, this moment was not only an impressive display of Gojo's curse techniques, but he also removed his mask for the first time, presenting his eyes to the audience in an exciting reveal.
Jogo's defeat is a beautiful representation of Gojo's powers. However, it also demonstrates his unimaginable strength and unintentional humor. Jogo ultimately meets his demise (for the first time) when Gojo decapitates him with a single hand. Jogo is stunned, unable to comprehend the dire circumstances. With his other hand, Gojo holds Itadori Yuji under his arm like a baby. Gojo summons his student to show off his Domain Expansion abilities. This moment perfectly captures the duality of Gojo's character. While he is often viewed in a humorous light, his strength is truly unmatched.
9 "You Cryin'?" – Gojo's High School Years
Young Gojo is introduced in the best way, leading to countless iconic high school moments.
Throughout JJK, Gojo has stolen the show with his charming, witty, cunning, and often flamboyant personality. However, none of these quirks are as prominent as during his high school years. At the beginning of the anime's second season, immediately following the JJK feature film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, audiences are introduced to Gojo and Geto during their high school years. This flashback arc comes at the perfect time, as the movie introduces Geto as a potent new antagonist and hints at a deeper relationship between him and Gojo. Not only does the brief backstory provide further context to the film, but it also dives deeper into the fan-favorite character.
In JJK season 2, episode #1, Utahime Iori and Mei Mei struggle to escape a manor where several mysterious disappearances have occurred. Finally, they crack the code to break the cursed spirit's barrier when the building begins to collapse. With a bit of help from Gojo, the two girls make it out. For the first time, the audience sees Gojo during his high-school years as he uncovers Utahime from the rubble.
This brief quote has become one of Gojo's most famous one-liners. Furthermore, his charmingly sarcastic introduction was the perfect segue into his younger years. Throughout the 5-episode arc, young Gojo would provide audiences with some of the best moments, full of humor and impressive cursed technique achievements.
8 The Honored One – Imaginary Technique: Purple
Gojo's enlightenment in Season 2 includes a reference to Buddhism.

During Gojo and Toji's final battle in season 2, episode #4, Gojo experiences full enlightenment, elevating his powers and senses to the next level. Previously, Gojo and Toji fought for the possession of Riko, who served as one of the two potential Star Plasma Vessels. Gojo suffered multiple nearly fatal blows from Toji during their battle's first round. Gojo was out cold for quite some time and was thought to be dead. However, he returned to finish off the movie's villian in an epic showdown.
Despite being brutally hurt and worn down, Gojo achieved a new level of enlightenment during his battle with Toji. Against a golden sky, Gojo ascends into the air, completely unfazed by his opponent's attacks. He uses his Imaginary Technique: Purple, for the first time. Initially, Toji is not concerned about this new attack, but something inside him says, "Something's off." Just before he deals Toji the final blow, Gojo enters a state of euphoria, which holds religious significance:
"Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one." – Satoru Gojo
This statement is a paraphrase from the Lalitavistara Sūtra, a Sanskrit Mahayana Buddhist sutra that tells the story of Gautama Buddha. The story covers his birth and descent from Tushita up until his first sermon in the Deer Park at Sarnath near Varanasi. One of Buddha's first reported statements is:
"I am the Supreme Being on this earth. This is my last birth, where I shall uproot birth, old age, sickness, and death!" - Gautama Buddha
7 The Best Juju Stroll: Gojo's Formation B
Following Episode 23, The Origin of Blind Obedience – 2, the most iconic Juju Stroll occurs.
Season 2 of JJK is jam-packed with terrifying villains, unexpected twists, and heartbreaking character deaths. However, Season 1 has one element that makes it stand out: Juju Strolls. Jujutsu Kaisen is a dark shonen anime characterized by serious themes, violence, and an overall gritty tone. However, in the anime's first season, more somber plotlines are broken up by light-hearted, hilarious comedy sketches. A few episodes with the best Juju Strolls include episode #18, episode #7, and episode #15. Nevertheless, out of all Akutami's shorts, episode #23's Juju Stroll takes the cake.
Itadori runs to Gojo and Kogisaki in a panic. When he tells them that Megumi is being hit on, Gojo calls out, "Formation B!" Itadori and Kugisaki tackle Megumi, begging him not to leave them for this new girl. Megumi is unfazed, utterly oblivious to what is going on. Finally, Gojo calls Megumi to follow him, claiming they have a violin lesson together and cheekily calling his students homewreckers. From the special formation dedicated to such an absurd occasion to his sparkly, "kawaii" appearance, Gojo truly makes episode #23's Juju Stroll the most memorable.
6 Gojo's Final Words to His Lifelong Friend
Gojo's final words to Geto are still a mystery to JJK fans.
In Jujutsu Kaisen: 0, the anime's only full-length film, Yuta Okkotsu faces Geto, Gojo's best friend from high school. Okkutsu's childhood friend, Rika Orimoto, now manifests as a special-grade cursed spirit in Okkotsu, and Geto is after her. Finally, after a grueling battle, the antagonist is defeated and left to die by the young sorcerer. Gojo approaches his old companion, who sits alone in an alleyway, worn from his fight with Orimoto's spirit. Gojo's composure remains resolute, but he mournfully recalls their time as high school friends.
The two seem to share a brief moment of remembrance as Geto remarks, "I didn't think I had any of that left in me after everything I've been through." Furthermore, while the conversation between Gojo and Geto remains generally apathetic, the former attempts to reconcile in four distinct ways. First, by crediting Geto's principles:
"I trusted a man as principled as you wouldn't kill off those sorcerers without reason." - Gojo
Second, Gojo reassures Geto that his family members are being taken care of. Third, he offers him an opportunity to speak any last words. Finally, Gojo whispers something of great significance to his old classmate. However, despite Geto's look of utter shock, it has never been revealed what Gojo whispered to his friend as he passed. Nevertheless, his graceful handling of Geto's death further proves that Gojo is Jujutsu Kaisen's best hero.
5 Gojo's Epic Solo Battle Against Hanami and Jogo
In an unforgettable sequence, Gojo conquers Hanami and Jogo.
The Shibuya Incident is Jujutsu Kaisen's most recent arc and, by far, its most heartbreaking one. While fans were met with a shocking turn of events and the loss of many of their favorite characters, the arc was undeniably captivating, with fantastic battle sequences and stunning animation. The excitement of the Shibuya Incident began within its first episodes. In season 2, episode #9, Gojo gives the antagonists a preview of his full potential.
Kenjaku, who now inhabits Geto's body, plans to seal Saturo Gojo in the Prison Realm. Once out of the way, Kenjaku believes they will finally have a fair chance against the sorcerers. Gojo approaches the villains alone, much to Itadori's dismay, but a solo battle is when he can release the full potential of his power. Despite Jogo's high status as a special-grade curse, he is terrified to fight Gojo for even one minute:
"You didn't join forces with us just to push that impossible task onto us, did you? Even the lives of several thousand ignorant humans wouldn't be enough to warrant fighting that thing under those conditions for a full minute!" – Jogo
Although he is eventually captured, the white-haired sorcerer cannot be completely restrained, even inside the Prison Realm. The seal that contains him drops abruptly to the floor, its eyes glowing a bright blue, and no one can move it. Even in a seemingly impossible solo battle with three compelling enemies, Gojo manages to come out with a bang.
4 Gojo Threatens the Higher-Ups Once Again
Gojo is unafraid to stand up for his students, even if it means making enemies with his superiors.
Many of Gojo's best moments come from Jujutsu Kaisen: 0. While many anime films are non-canon, simply providing a break from the series' arcs, JJK's movie is entirely canon and essential to the anime's plot. Canon films are the perfect way to expand an anime's universe in a new way and allow audiences a deeper look into certain characters. For example, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train quite literally dives "deeper" into its protagonists, as the film depicts the spiritual cores of its characters. Like any great film, JJK: 0 explores its most beloved character from a fresh angle.
Gojo has threatened his higher-ups once before. In season 1 of JJK, during the Fearsome Womb arc, Gojo threatens Yoshinobu Gakuganji, the principal of Kyoto Jujutsu High and a member of the higher-ups. However, his tone is much more playful, implying he is not the only jujutsu sorcerer who would rebel. In contrast, Gojo's threat in JJK: 0 is much more sinister:
"And don't you forget that if it comes down to that decision, I'll side with Yuta Okkotsu." - Gojo
This statement against the higher-ups displays Gojo's steadfast resolve. In Season 1, he subtly threatens the principal by including his fellow sorcerers in his rebellion. However, in the film, he faces not one higher-up but four, and he stands alone. When Okkotsu is threatened, he stakes his own life to maintain his safety. While Gojo often attaches a bit of humor to his more severe claims, JJK: 0 exhibits his ability to be much more menacing when he needs to.
3 Gojo vs. Sukuna: The First Fight
Sukuna, previously known as the most powerful sorcerer in the world, is no match for Gojo in their first battle.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans' first impression of Gojo perfectly suits his nonchalant demeanor. In episode #1, Itadori swallows the first of Sukuna's fingers. In episode #2, Gojo gives Itadori a second finger and decides to test Sukuna's strength. He asks Itadori to allow him to take over for 10 seconds so they can fight. Once again, Gojo's easy-going personality and inability to take things seriously is displayed in his first battle with Sukuna:
Sukuna is itching to kill Gojo as he is reborn after thousands of years. While he ferociously attempts to kill Gojo, the sorcerer continues his conversation with Megumi about Kikifuku, a cream-filled dessert. Nevertheless, despite his laid-back disposition, Gojo proves Sukuna is no match for him. Even though Sukuna is an incredibly powerful cursed spirit and previously known as the greatest sorcerer ever to live, Gojo barely taps into his abilities to keep him under control:
"My student's watching, so I'm going to show off a little." - Gojo
Sukuna attempts to learn Gojo's techniques, even at their simplest level. However, Gojo uses very few of his cursed abilities, but performs some advanced jujutsu fighting moves, only to impress his students. While a more intense battle against Sukuna is inevitable in JJK's future, Gojo's first fight with Itadori's cursed spirit confirms that he is the most powerful sorcerer in the anime.
2 Gojo Adopts His Enemy's Son: Megumi Fushiguro
One of Gojo's best moments was the adoption of one of his most promising students, Megumi Fushiguro.
Following Gojo and Toji's epic battle in Jujutsu Kaisen: 0, a favor is asked of the world's most powerful sorcerer at the most unexpected of times. As Toji takes his final breaths, Gojo asks him for any last words. The antagonist responds that he has none. However, without asking directly, he lets Gojo know that his son, Megumi, will be sold off to the Zen'in clan. One of Japan's Three Great Jujutsu Families, the Zen'in clan accepts only the best sorcerers, and Megumi fits the bill. Because Toji could not harness his own cursed energy, he was rejected from the clan.
"Two or three years from now, my kid will be sold off to the Zen'in clan. Do what you will with that." - Toji
Toji's final request speaks volumes to Gojo's character. Toji knew the powers of his son and the evil of the Zen'in clan. Despite their difference in views, he entrusted his son's future to his opponent. In season 2, episode #5, Gojo approaches a young Megumi, who seems relatively uninterested in his father's whereabouts. However, he asks Gojo about his sister Tsumiki's well-being should he join the Zen'in clan. When he can not guarantee her happiness, it is heavily implied that Gojo takes Megumi under his wing after challenging him to rise to his level of strength:
"So do your best. Get stronger. Strong enough to keep up with me." - Gojo
The episode ends as Gojo's current students wake him up in the present day after a dream. His teaching style may be considered unorthodox by some of his higher-ups. However, the skill level, dedication, and loyalty of his three best students, Itadori, Kugisaki, and Megumi, are a testament to his leadership abilities.
1 The Infamous Street Scene: Gojo & Geto's Goodbye
Season 2, Episode 5, contains some of the most pivotal scenes in the anime.
Not only is it implied at the beginning of season 2 that Gojo adopts Megumi, but his relationship with his closest companion, Geto, comes to an end. In the JJK film, the audience learns that Geto refers to all non-sorcerers as "monkeys". While on a mission to save a village from a curse, he finds two imprisoned young girls being blamed for the curse's actions just because they were the only two who could see it. After realizing the prejudice that all sorcerers may face, Geto vows to kill every non-sorcerer in the world.
Gojo confronts Geto about his plans. He tells him it is impossible, but Geto retorts, stating that for Gojo, it is possible, "You could do it, couldn't you, Satoru? Yet you would try to convince someone else that it's impossible to do something that's possible for you?" Gojo usually keeps himself composed, even in the toughest of situations, but his frustration and feelings of betrayal are undeniable in one of JJK's most heartbreaking scenes.
"Are you the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo? Or does being the strongest make you Satoru Gojo?" – Geto
Geto makes one last comment, stating that if he were able to become Gojo, his dream would seem much more plausible. This statement is an unfortunate foreshadowing of Geto's fate as his body is manipulated by a cursed spirit who uses him for his abilities. In a moment of desperation, Gojo flexes his thumb and middle finger, aiming at his former friend, but restrains himself. This moment would forever change Gojo, making it one of the most important in the series.

Gojo has become one of the most easily recognizable characters in anime history, taking a well-deserved seat amongst anime legends such as Goku, Monkey D. Luffy, Levi Ackerman, and L Lawliet. In addition to Jujutsu Kaisen’s heartfelt moments, jaw-dropping battle scenes, gut-wrenching deaths, and laugh-out-loud humor, its characters make the anime genuinely memorable. Satoru Gojo will forever be remembered as the most treasured character in the series for his iconic cursed techniques, quippy one-liners, and lackadaisical personality, proving he is the most iconic hero in Jujutsu Kaisen.
