Batman's New Costume Is the Most Terrifying He's Looked in Years
Warning! Contains spoilers for Detective Comics #1085!
Summary A new, terrifying Batman suit helps instill fear in criminals, even those who have forgotten him.
Batman seeks to reinvent his terrifying reputation with decades of experience under his belt.
The Orgham family's attempt to erase Batman's legacy backfires, making him scarier than ever.
One of the things that makes Batman such an effective crime fighter is how most criminals stop committing crimes simply due to fear of Batman. Even if Batman is nowhere near them, they have that lingering fear that he might be there, and sometimes that's all it takes to stop someone. That's likely to happen a lot more now thanks to Batman's terrifying new look.
In Detective Comics #1085 by Ram V. and Stefano Raffaele, readers are introduced to a Batman who is completely revitalized. Bruce was chased out of Gotham City by the Orgham family, and now Batman has returned stronger than ever. This return seems to include a terrifying new Bat-suit that's unlike anything readers have seen before, featured on the final page of this preview for Detective Comics #1085.

This terrifying new Batman drops in on a group of Orgham soldiers and quickly takes them out without any problems. While the costume is cast in shadows, it seems pretty nightmarish, with the cloth having a fleshy tendril appearance and the iconic Batman symbol seeming more like bleeding veins coming together over his chest.

The Arkham Universe Had Many Different Monster Versions Of Batman
Batman has built his reputation off of fear, and Batman has gone to great lengths to build that reputation. Batman's plan is to make it so that every criminal can never be sure that Batman isn't lurking in the nearby shadows. Every time they go out to commit a crime, Batman could be right around the corner. It's clearly not true, as Batman has no superpowers and couldn't possibly be everywhere, but that's the benefit of becoming a myth. For years, people in Gotham weren't sure if Batman was even real, let alone human. Now, Batman has a chance to re-invent himself — scarier than ever.
The Orgham family thought they had beaten Batman by erasing his legacy, but all they did was ensure that he'd win.
The Orgham family have used their hypnotic magic to remove the memory of Batman from Gotham City. This was a massive mistake, since not only is Batman returning to Gotham fully rejuvenated and ready for a fight, but he's also facing off against criminals and soldiers who forgot who Batman even is. This means Batman now has decades of experience under his belt when it comes to scaring people, and he's been given a chance by the Orghams to completely redo his reputation as a monster. Judging from the new suit, he is doing everything he can to be more terrifying than ever.

Batman Will Do Anything to Terrify Criminals
The Orgham family thought they had beaten Batman by erasing his legacy, but all they did was ensure that he'd win. They erased his legacy, but not his experience. Batman is still perfectly aware of how to terrify people, more than he has ever been before. Now Batman can use all those decades of experience to build a new and far stronger legacy in Gotham City. While criminals clearly feared Batman before, this new version is scarier than ever. The Orgham family really only succeeded in making Batman more terrifying than he's been in years.
