BOTW Stars Reveal Who They'd Cast As Tingle In Next Zelda Game

Summary The voice cast of Breath of the Wild discussed who they would cast as Tingle in an upcoming game - Keanu Reeves was a top choice for the role.

The actors also joked about potential casting choices for a Legend of Zelda movie, with Danny DeVito cited as an inspired choice for Tingle.

The character of Tingle has a strong fan following, and while not confirmed for future projects, his return would please many fans.

Speaking to Screen Rant at MCM London Comic Con, the cast of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild revealed who they would cast as Tingle in their iteration of the beloved franchise. Aside from some brief moments in other games, and the three action-adventure games for Philips Interactive Media's (CD-i) players, Breath of the Wild was one of the first games in the series to have a full English voice cast, prompting plenty of speculation as to what other characters from the long running saga could return.

This week, voice actors Patricia Summersett, who plays Zelda, and Sean Chiplock, who plays Revali, Teba, and Great Deku Tree gathered for a press panel during MCM London Comic Con to discuss their work on the series. When asked who they'd want to act alongside and see voice the role of Tingle, the merchant who claims to be a reincarnated fairy, if he were to return in the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom era, Chiplock responded with one name in particular in a very entertaining response.

Sean Chiplock: Keanu Reeves. [Both laugh] Easily Keanu Reeves. Patricia Summersett: [Laughing] I'm going to go with that one too, yeah. Sean Chiplock: He does his own stunts, man! I don't know if you've seen this, because I can explain this in detail because I've been playing playing Hyrule Warriors, but the funniest thing to me is that, as a teen, it's like "who is this creepy man in my Zelda game? I want nothing to do with him" and as 30-somethings, it's like "that's life goals right there!" That man is living his best life, dressed up however he wants. He's got the butt wiggle that he does when he runs in Hyrule Warriors when you run with him... Patricia Summersett: You want to see Keanu do the butt wiggle, is that what you're saying? Sean Chiplock: YES! When you run with him, with every gallop he does these [makes Tingle noises] little funny noises as he gallops and there's confetti coming out of his backside at the same time and I think Keanu is somebody who does basically all his own stunts and if he can waggle his buttocks like that... move over Tay Tay.

In that same press panel, the actors were asked who they would like to see portray their characters in the recently announced The Legend of Zelda movie. The duo did point out that they couldn't seriously answer that, but trust Nintendo's decision and are sure the team involved will come up with something "awesome", with Chiplock saying he would like to see Josh Brolin play the Goron Darunia based on his casting as Cable in Deadpool 2.

On the topic of the movie, Chiplock later joked he would absolutely play Tingle in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie, but only with practical firecracker confetti shooting out of his rear, and did in-person wiggle to demonstrate. The following day at MCM London Comic Con's main The Legend of Zelda panel, Sean had clearly been thinking more about potential Tingle casting overnight as he seemed extremely prepared to answer a fan question about the movie's potential casting with a call to "cast Danny DeVito for Tingle!" which is an absolutely inspired piece of casting.

While there has been no confirmation of Tingle appearing in either a follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, or the movie, the character certainly has a strong fan following on his own - Summersett even noted that she'd had a Tingle cosplayer come up to her - so it would please many to see the character return. One thing's for sure, between both panels Screen Rant attended at MCM London Comic Con, Nintendo has some inspired casting choices to consider for the role.
