This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.
Summary Jennifer Love Hewitt confirms that work is ongoing to get the new I Know What You Did Last Summer off the ground, but it's not yet a sure thing.
Hewitt would be "grateful" to return as Julie James and teases that the character would be less vulnerable this time.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is on the schedule to release next year from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
I Know What You Did Last Summer, the upcoming legacy sequel, gets a new update from Jennifer Love Hewitt, who addresses her possible return. Hewitt first played Julie James in the original 1997 film, which follows four friends who become the targets of a sinister killer after a hit-and-run the previous summer. After two subsequent sequels, a new I Know What You Did Last Summer is now in the works from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, with a tentative release date set for next summer.
In a recent interview with ET, Hewitt provides a promising update on I Know What You Did Last Summer, revealing that things are definitely in motion regarding the film. Although nothing is seemingly set in stone just yet, the actor also reveals how Julie would be different in the upcoming installment compared to the first two movies. Check out Hewitt's comment below:
“It’s in the cooker, let me just say that. I’ve done a couple preliminary phone calls… “Honestly, it’s just wild to even think about. Truly, if it comes together, I think I don’t even know how I’m going to feel, except extremely overwhelmed and grateful. Honestly terrified because it’s 26 years later. “There’s power in being older. There’s power in having gone off and had three kids. There’s a sense of ‘I can do anything now.’ The vulnerability that was Julie James in one and two definitely doesn’t exist in this one, I don’t think. I’m excited to just show her grown up.”
More to come...
