Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - How To Find (& Beat) Boss Whacka

The rare and almost extinct Whacka becomes a secret boss battle for Mario to fight in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Whacka Bumps throughout the game come across as health-boosting items. However, in this case, ironically, they hit you instead. The little blue mole Mario once clobbered constantly is now ready for revenge in this silly exhibition match.

Originally made as a boss for the N64 game and now for the Nintendo Switch version, Whacka gets his payback from the players. With a significant HP and Attack stat of 108 and 10, respectively, Mario and his friends can take a lot of damage. Whacka also can heal himself from the nutritious Whacka Bumps that come from originally hitting him at least eight times.

How To Unlock & Defeat Whacka

Recommended Level Gear & Items

Unlocking Whacka requires quite a few hours into the game. This is because you will need to finish the main storyline and beat some of the best bosses in Paper Mario: TTYD. Additionally, finishing The Pit of Trials to floor 100 is a requirement, since that is where Whacka is said to be found in an email titled "RDM Fabled Creature".

To ensure he is on the 100th floor, go to Keelhaul Key and hit Whacka a few times until he tells you to stop. Finally, take the deal from the first floor to trial floor 50 to make your descent to the bottom much easier if you do not want to travel all 100 floors.

Ideally, you'll want to be around level 35 to start the secret boss battle with Whacka. This is because you will have a significant amount of HP and FP to survive the fight. Remember that you will need healing items during this match, even if it means using a fan trolled recipe from Zess T.

The more you hit Whacka, the more Whacka Bumps are at his disposal, which means he will be using his items, too. Consider using Ultra Shrooms, Jammin' Jelly, and your own Whacka Bumps, which will restore plenty of HP and FP during the fight.
