The new Netflix limited series Eric has a strong cast led by Benedict Cumberbatch. Created by Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady, Suffragette, The Split) and directed by Lucy Forbes (The End of the F***ing World, In My Skin, This Is Going To Hurt), Eric is a dramatic crime thriller centered around a missing boy named Edgar. Vincent, his father, is a puppeteer who befriends an imaginary friend who lives under Edgar's bed as a coping mechanism to deal with his grief. All six episodes of Eric are available exclusively to stream on Netflix following its release date of May 30, 2024.
Eric marks Cumberbatch's second consecutive project at Netflix after starring as Henry Sugar and several other characters in 2024's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More, which was written and directed by Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel). Eric has opened up to mostly positive reviews ahead of its wide release on Netflix, earning a critic score of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. The limited series also stars Gaby Hoffman (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), and McKinley Belcher III (Ozark).
