Star Wars: The Old Republic players looking to show off their excitement for the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte are in luck because the developer Broadsword is adding a range of new items inspired by the show. While The Acolyte may be set hundreds of years after The Old Republic, that doesn't mean the Dark Jedi of the past can't explore some more recent trends in galactic fashion. Those sticking to the Light may not find a new ensemble for their wardrobe, but it's still fun to know that some fresh threads are coming to the game.
Announced on the official Old Republic blog, the game confirmed that as a part of the upcoming "Desperate Defiance" update, which is scheduled to go live on May 29, players will be able to access the Dark Harbinger armor set from the Cartel Market. Those who have been keeping up with the marketing for The Acolyte will no doubt recognize the outfit as the same one worn by the mysterious character Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg. The kit includes the Dark Hinger Hood which is split into two variants: One with visible hair and the other without.

Aside from the Dark Harbinger armor, The Old Republic players will also be able to equip a "Wookiee Jedi-inspired hairstyle and beard customizations" as well as a slick weapon known as the Serpent's Tongue Vibroblade. While such a sword has yet to be seen in the promotional material for The Acolyte, it certainly fits the aesthetic of a Sith-focused escapade through space. Given the new storyline included in "Desperate Defiance," it almost makes sense that The Old Republic would want a cross-promotional bump in marketing.
The Old Republic players who join in on the fun when Update 7.5 launches will embark upon the "Desperate Defiance" quest which will see them enlisted by Padawan Sa’har Kateen who wants to retrieve the missing holocron of Darth Nul. In doing so, users will travel to the Minboosa District on Hutta, a new location that includes allies and enemies alike as the community seemingly struggles under the weight of a lengthy worker rebellion. How this arc plays out remains to be seen, but it's a safe bet that players can support or squash the protests.
Despite being over a decade old Star Wars: The Old Republic continues to flourish with an abundance of updates and seasonal events that continually flesh out the lore and characters. Given that The Acolyte is set hundreds of years after the RPG, it's doubtful that the game will address the show but it's still fun to see some of those more iconic outfits in action. One can only imagine that even more cross-promotion events are planned for the many upcoming Star Wars series and films.
