Missy Is Young Sheldon's Biggest Wasted Opportunity

Young Sheldon Could Have Done More With Missy.

Much has been said about Young Sheldon underutilizing Missy. She is arguably CBS' biggest missed opportunity in both The Big Bang Theory and its prequel. While Missy has been dethroned as the best Cooper family member, she remains one of the most interesting characters from the show. George and Mary's only daughter is so different from Sheldon and Georgie, that it's unfair that both boys are getting their time under the spotlight but not her. Missy could have been Young Sheldon's anchor point as it transitioned to becoming a family show. Unfortunately, the prequel fails to capitalize on her assets.

Currently, Georgie and Mandy's Young Sheldon sequel series is officially a go. It would have been the perfect opportunity to make up for its Missy blunder. Unfortunately, as the actor herself revealed, Revord wasn't asked to return. Making a guest appearance is not off the table, but ideally, she should be a series regular. Since the show hasn't started filming, it is still not too late for CBS to change its mind and recruit her. The Big Bang Theory canon already mandates her to be tied to Georgie after George dies anyway, so it shouldn't be difficult to explain her involvement.

Like the rest of the Coopers, Missy didn't appear in The Big Bang Theory finale. This means that if she doesn't become a series regular in Georgie and Mandy's spinoff sequel, that will likely be it for the character. Assuming that this is the case, it's imperative that Young Sheldon gives one of its best characters the satisfying send-off that she deserves.

Young Sheldon season 7 airs every Thursday, 8pm ET on CBS.
