The latest update on Silo season 2 is great news coming from the author of the original novel. Since premiering back in May 2023, Silo has become one of the best original sci-fi series on Apple TV+. The show was so critically acclaimed and popular on Apple's streaming platform that season 2 was confirmed before the release of its pivotal season 1 finale, which is arguably the greatest episode of the series. Silo's star Rebecca Ferguson (Dune: Part Two, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) is set to return.

Silo season 2 completed filming in March 2024 but does not yet have an official release date. Ferguson provided a major Silo update in April 2024, confidently speculating that the series will continue past season 2. "It's three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons. Season 2 is shot and coming out, and we're now looking at green-lighting Seasons 3 and 4. And I think we would film them maybe together, and that would be the end." Based on its current timeline, Silo season 2 should be released in early 2025, or maybe even sooner.

Hugh Howey's Silo Season 2 Tease Is Very Exciting

Silo season 2 is apparently far along in the post-production process and is reportedly just about done, if not entirely complete. Original Silo author Hugh Howey gave an early review of Silo season 2 on Threads, saying "I've seen season 2 and its one of the best things I've ever seen." Considering he wrote the books that inspired the series, the first of which is titled "Wool", if Howey is happy, then it's a very good sign for the state of the popular Apple series.

Howey also added that the wait for Silo season 2 might not be that long, hinting that the return of the acclaimed series could be as soon as late 2024. That would be quite a rapid turnaround considering the season 1 finale was released roughly 10 months ago. Compared to another celebrated Apple sci-fi series Severance, which has left fans waiting for a second season for more than 2 years, Silo season 2 sounds like it's on a fast track towards release thanks to Howey's teases.
