Starfield Player Uncovers An Incredible Detail In The Game's New Maps
Summary Starfield's new dynamic map system renders assets in real-time, including custom ships and outposts, making navigation easier for players.
The updated map system is similar to Skyrim's and allows for unique structures to appear, working well with mods.
The forthcoming 1.11.33 Update for Starfield will address common player requests, such as proper maps, adjustable graphic fidelity on Xbox Series X, and more quality-of-life features.
Following the news that Starfield will soon receive proper maps, one dedicated player identified an impressive detail in the update's beta build. Perhaps one of the most common complaints about Bethesda's sprawling sci-fi RPG is that many of the locations players encountered, especially the cities, didn't include dedicated maps, making them incredibly difficult to navigate on foot. Fortunately, that problem has now been addressed and will be added in a forthcoming patch but players may be impressed with how the developer has opted to implement the system.
Posted to Reddit by user JarusinTheStars, the player observed that Starfield's map appears to be dynamic and renders assets in real-time which is evidenced by the fact that their custom ship and outpost is correctly displayed when the map screen is open.
It appears to be a similar system incorporated in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, whose map was simply a dramatically zoomed-out image of the entire region. Many have complimented the presentation, noting that it should also work well with any installed mods given that unique structures will still be able to appear on the map.

Starfield Players Are Happy With Their New Map
It's Been A Long Time Coming
As mentioned above, one of the most common requests, when it came to Starfield's launch, was the game's originally non-existent maps that made ground-based movement significantly harder than it needed to be. Update 1.11.33, which is currently in beta, will also introduce a host of other quality-of-life features that the community has long demanded, including the ability to decorate the interior of ships and a way to customize Starfield's difficulty. Tabs have also been added to Containers to ensure that inventory management is easier and far less of a mission than in the original version.
Aside from the implementation of proper maps, arguably the biggest addition to Starfield is the ability to change graphic fidelity on Xbox Series X. Console users will now have the ability to switch between different frame rate targets that include 30,40, 60, or even Uncapped if their display is capable of supporting it. One of the most disappointing aspects of Starfield's launch was the locked 30fps framerate on consoles, disappointing many who wanted the RPG to feel like a true next-gen game for Xbox.
Aside from the excitement about the upcoming 1.11.33 Update, Bethesda also impressed Starfield fans by locking in a release window for the Shattered Space DLC: Fall 2024.
While the 1.11.33 Update for Starfield doesn't have a confirmed release date, it's already available in Steam Beta for all PC players to experience. Once Bethesda is happy with the quality of the patch, it will make another announcement and set it live for all users on both PC and Xbox. In the interim, those who are able to check out the early build of the update can offer feedback and thoughts to the developer in an effort to help smooth out any bumps that may still occur ahead of its official launch.
