The "King of Curses" Sukuna has been cornered in Jujutsu Kaisen, forcing him to unleash the true form of his Domain Expansion. As Sukuna unleashes a Malevolent Shrine variation, the latest developments show a wretched abomination that's hugely unstable, and the heroes know it.

Still, this twisted, fleshy hulk on which Sukuna stands and tries to outlast his opponents is precisely the sort of domain one would expect of the King of Curses in Jujutsu Kaisen. Even in his weakened state, Sukuna has continued to thrash his opponents, considering others unworthy substitutes for Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen.

However, facing a barrage of Black Flash attacks from Yuji, his defenses continuing to wear down, and his latest chance at restoring his Reverse Cursed Technique squashed, he's backed against a wall. However, whether this spells the end for Jujutsu Kaisen's King of Curses is another entirely different matter.

Sukuna's True Malevolent Shrine Lives Up to Its Name

Jujutsu Kaisen's King of Curses Stands Atop a Grotesque Cursed Pedestal in Potentially His Last Stand

After seven consecutive Black Flash strikes on Sukuna, it seems like Yuji has him on the ropes, but Sukuna releases the proper form of his Malevolent Shrine, which looks quite different from the one seen before. It's a twisted, behemothic, floating flesh temple described as "the king's domain" in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter #258, that's unleashed despite Yuji's barrage. Its presence envelops the surrounding city blocks, yet there's still a glimmer of hope.

Yuji deems Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine unsustainable in its current state. After ninety-nine seconds, if Yuji and the others endure, they can go in for a potentially spectacular finish. Yuji weathers a furious flurry of deadly slashes, even losing a foot in the process. Despite the fact that this Domain is "incomplete", it's a lot more impressive, and scary, than the version Sukuna has used previously.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter #257, Sukuna talks in a flashback about Yuji's frightening potential and his heritage as Kenjaku's "child." Sukuna suspects part of Yuji's source of power is due to having descended from Sukuna's reincarnated twin, with whom Kenjaku had mated. It draws an exciting connection to why the young sorcerer can keep up with the King of Curses.

Thanks to the "soul-swap" training done with Kusakabe, Yuji could use Simple Domain to protect himself a little from Malevolent Shrine. However, just as the heroes think they have withstood the King of Curses's strongest attack, Sukuna readies his newly unveiled "Divine Flame" technique. There are probably still more secrets hiding in Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine Domain Expansion and in his cursed technique, meaning that the biggest battle in Jujutsu Kaisen is far from over.
