June 6 Is A Huge Day For Hogwarts Legacy Fans
Summary Hogwarts Legacy fans can look forward to the big summer update on June 6.
The summer update includes the Haunted Hogsmeade quest coming to all platforms, photo mode, Talent Points reset, and new in-game items.
With no DLC plans on the horizon, the summer update is expected to be the biggest content drop post-launch for Hogwarts Legacy.
June 6 will be a day to look forward to for Hogwarts Legacy fans, as it marks the release of the game's big summer update. Avalanche Software's latest had quite the lengthy release process, first coming to current-gen consoles and PC ahead of belated releases for older PlayStation and Xbox hardware, and finally the Nintendo Switch release late last year. With apparenlty no plans for DLC on the horizon, though, Hogwarts Legacy's summer update is likely to be the biggest content drop the game receives post-launch.
June 6 was revealed as the launch date for the summer update via the official Hogwarts Legacy X (formerly Twitter) account. The update was announced early in 2024, but few details were divulged beyond a summer release window.
Hogwarts Legacy's summer update will bring a handful of new content additions to the wizarding world game, including a photo mode, a previously platform-exclusive quest, the ability to reset Talent Points, and a handful of in-game items. Without clarification otherwise, the summer update will presumably be live on all supported platforms on June 6.
Haunted Hogsmeade Is Finally Available To All
The most robust addition to Hogwarts Legacy via the summer update is the Haunted Hogsmeade quest releasing on platforms other than PS4 and PS5, to which it was exclusive previously. Although typically referred to as Haunted Hogsmeade, the actual quest in-game is called "Mind Your Own Business," and can be started in Hogsmeade during the game's winter portion. The quest involves a house-elf named Penny, who, under false pretenses, propositions the student to purchase and run a store in the village.
The other most significant additions in the summer update are the photo mode and the ability to reset the player character's Talent Points, both highly requested since the game's initial launch. The former is especially enticing, as Hogwarts Legacy's incredibly realized castle is one of the game's greatest accomplishments. The remaining items are: Azkaban Prinsoner's Outfit and Coat; Lavender Borealis Broom, which appears to emit purple-hued Northern Lights in-flight; the Felix Felicis potion recipe, which was an exclusive item for PlayStation pre-orders; an Onyx Hippogriff mount; and The Glasses that Lived, an imitation of Harry Potter's round spectacles with taped bridge.
The massive success of Hogwarts Legacy has led to the presumption that a sequel is on the way, though nothing has been confirmed. Any sort of DLC expansion is similarly up in the air, though increasingly unlikely, leaving the summer update as a nice thank-you gift to the game's dedicated fans. Haunted Hogsmeade going multi-platform may entice players to return for a playthrough, choosing a different Hogwarts Legacy house, but the summer update is ultimately a rather modest addition. Regardless, it's new content for Hogwarts Legacy, and rather welcome additions at that.
