Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

CORPUS BODY CANON OEUVRE WORKS

I suppose it's time to come clean now, we absolutely lost today's game of Connections. What even is OEUVRE? It's clear that the final day in May decided to be a tough one, and that's okay. Losses happen and it's how we learn from them that matters. Anyway, we got nowhere near solving the yellow category today. In fact, the only thing we got correct in today's collection was the blue record-themed category.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

MOUNT ___ FUJI HOOD OLYMPUS WHITNEY

We really should have been able to score the green category today, mountains are awesome. I think the photography-themed misdirection really took a toll on our guesses and set us up for the perfect storm of failure. FUJI, OLYMPUS, POLAROID, and CANON all have to do with cameras in some way or another. When that showed failure we thought maybe OLYMPUS was wrong and tried to fit in OEUVRE, because it's a made-up word that no one has ever heard of ever.

COMPONENTS OF AN LP INSERT JACKET RECORD SLEEVE

The one thing we got correct, and the one category without one of those camera-themed words in it. JACKET and SLEEVE were the two we focused on first, thinking this was some sort of clothing-themed category. We definitely lost an attempt trying to fit in HANDS and BODY, but after that failed we saw the right connection. Have you ever heard the word OEUVRE used in modern times? OEUVRE, OEUVRE, it's going to drive me mad!

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

THINGS PEOPLE SHAKE HANDS MARACA POLAROID SNOWGLOBE

You know what I can't shake? The word OEUVRE. I don't even like spelling it. I've worked with computers since middle school (I'm old) and the word OEUVRE makes me look down at the keyboard just to make sure I'm hitting the right keys. OEUVRE, from the French œuvre, means a collection of works. This makes sense for the corpus category, but the word itself is digging into my brain like some sort of cicada.

OEUVRE, how do you even say it out loud? Is it oh-VAR, like a fancy way of saying 'over'? Or is it more like Oprah with 'V'? Ov-rah. Why won't it release it's hold over me? How do I continue from here?
